Disney World Trip December 2005

Introductions Myself 57, planner and all around Jill of all Trades DH, 71 Master of None and likes it that way. His redeeming quality is that he loves DW as much as I do and is always willing to go there.

We had missed our planned Thanksgiving trip because I was not recovering too well from a surgery I had in September. We were so disappointed because we love seeing the holiday decoration at DW so very much. On a routine doctor’s visit it was determined that I was sick. Really?? My magic pills scared off the sinus infection and pneumonia and left me feeling fit as a fiddle and in a Disney Mood. My brain kept giving me all sorts of reasonable reasons why we could/should not go to DW but one night magic happened.

I was not able to sleep and at 1 am what should to my wondering eyes appear but a WDW Holiday Show and all its gear. With visions of gingerbread fresh in my head up from my bed I sprang and to Disney Reservations I rang. One ringie dingie and I was through instead of my waiting and waiting as I usually do. Ten days at the World was soon arranged and even at a discount, I thought I was deranged. :worship:

With a mere two weeks until Christmas Day I hustled and bustled and managed to arrange a holiday most strange. Not the usual but something quit unique and not at all meek. Nothing but the weather could stop us now so you can imagine what our mood was when the news said we would need more than a plow. Nine inches of snow was headed our way so we escaped early by a day. Pixie Dust from all our DIS friends came from far and near as we got to the place that we hold most dear. :disrocks: Ten whole days before we had to fret if the roads would be icy and wet. :cloud9:

Getting there a day early we were not able to find a room on property divine. I tried a new route that many had said would find us a place to lie our head. Leaving for dinner my spouse exclaimed “Are you sure you can find this place again?” Of course, replied I, I have been down this road many a time and in my heart I did not know I was lying. The very same buildings that appear at the Crossroads made me suspect that all was quite clear. Two hours later, almost in tears, my husband gave into his fears. I would gladly have checked into another abode if I had not left my medicines by the other commode. With the help of quite a few we finally found our way to 192. :thewave:

Nuff rhyming, is making my poor head ache :headache: and we would not want that. LOL Even though we had eaten at the Ale House (great food and atmosphere) the previous night, before our travails, my dh was wanting a hearty breakfast. I took him to our favorite place, the Golden Corral over by Crossroads. It is his favorite because they have such good food and a lot of it and I love the price. For under $6 you get all you can eat including any drinks you want. After we were all full up we wandered over to the All Star Sports to see if they had our room ready. It was not but that was no problem. We were willing to wait until a good location was available. When you stay for a long time a good location is very important especially when you might need to borrow a luggage cart to get back after a day in the parks. We headed over to MGM to enjoy a bonus half day in the parks. We were able to do the GMR, LMA and B&B with nary a wait. Even went in to play one game of Millionaire but while I did make the board my mind was too fuzzy to get to the top, that time. We decided that ending the day with Spectro was just what we needed so we headed over to the MK and while I went up to the top of the RR station to get our favorite seats dh wandered around sampling different treats. We met a great couple that travel by RV and found out that they sometimes stay at a place fifteen minutes from our home so we exchanged info for a possible future meet. As is our wont, when the parade gets ready to start we pull the table and chairs back from the railing and allow any small children to have a front row seat. This time a family with five adorable children joined us. It was so very cold :cold: that I put my jacket (sometimes it is good to be large) over three of the children and the other two decided I looked like a good wind break so they availed themselves of my lap. We were all happy campers. Seeing the parade through the eyes of a child is my favorite way to see it. I had a Mickey Bar for my dinner and even though I had dreamed of it since last year it just did not taste good. Might be the fact that it was cold. I hope so. :jester:

I promise that the next editions of this trip report will not be as verbose or poetical. :chat:

Great start, waiting for more.

Thank you for your kind words.

I have been up since 4 am and have to be up bright and early again tomorrow so I am going to bed and refresh what is left of my brains.

Maybe another, more insightful chapter, tomorrow.

Good night all, zzzzzzzz Slightly Goofy
