Demand for Grand Villas not that great?

Are Grand Villas not in that much demand?

Many say it's important to chose the resort where you want to stay in order to easily get your room choice at the 11 month window.

Does everyone track the work done by CarolMN? Here's the link to availability reports for just 6 months away and seems there are plenty of GV's to be had, dispelling the rumor that you must have that 11 month window in order to book a GV:

September 2010 - just 6 months away and there is no reported lack of GV availability:

Is everyone referring to holidays and summer months perhaps as the times that it may be a challenge to get a GV? I'm seeing standard view studios seem to book up first.

Even this coming July 2010, all the GV's are available at WDW, only VB has it's GVs booked up for 4th of July, see this link:

I know this is not a complete listing - just those on Disboard who are willing to contribute the information. Someone should just call and ask reservations if there really is a booked solid status for this summer on grand villas. I would call to see, but don't have my membership number yet so can't call. Once I get it I will provide update to CarolMN and her team so they can update thread.

But is there really anyone that has not been able to get a GV when trying to book 7-11 months out? If so, what resort, and what month, holiday or event?

did not ask about GV - but BLT is sold out For Sept in studio and 1-bedroom (if staying 4 days or longer)

this is standard and lake view - did not ask about the MK view either - always assumed if Lake view was gone so is it.

You have to understand that the information posted on these boards is just a small sampling of DVCers. Some people here may have called but did not report to the availability thread and there are plenty of DVC owners that do not post on the boards.

I called to check for GV at BLT for October and November and found availability for both sets of dates for LV GVs.

I agree, I would not put much trust in it.

Neither would I, if I wanted to book something first thing I do is call MS and talk to them, not check the DIS board availability thread.

Best bet in getting the unit size you want when you want it, is to make use of the home resort priority. If you can't do that, then you have to be flexible. I know the OP is waiting to get in the system, so she might have to be flexible this year.

That board is only good to see what might NOT be available, not to see what IS available. It is only a small sample of DVC members who post there. Plus what is NOT available today, might become available tomorrow if someone gets their waitlist or decides to cancel.

Personally, I think that board is a waste of bandwidth. But I don't own the boards, so my opinion isn't that important.
