Deluxe: worth the extra?

I don't know. I didn't think so after our CSR stay, but after POFQ, I really would like to stay somewhere more convenient (and nicer). I'm thinking about booking Beach Club for our next trip. The issue I have with the mods is that you're far from ALL parks. The mods don't really have good TS options either. Plus, as a family of 5, we will need the extra space soon.

Our favorite park is Epcot, so I think we'd really enjoy being able to walk to Epcot. I also see us eating at an ADR near our resort more. I could totally see us heading back to the hotel at 3, swimming and eating right at the resort. It's much more hectic to do that when (a) you aren't that close to any park and (b) you're stuck with CS for dinner or a mediocre TS if you stay at your home resort. I figure, if we stay at the Beach Club, we can easily have breakfast at Cape May, Dinner at Cape May, eat at Kouzzina (at the Boardwalk), maybe check out Captain's Grill... Stormalong Bay looks awesome too.

I think the deluxes are worth it for convenience of the location. Like Pakey said, they really are not deluxe in any "real world" sense of deluxe, but convenience to the parks trumps that for us.

Since AKL does not have a good location, it would be lower on my list of deluxes that I would consider worth the increased price.

If you can afford it, go ahead and give it a try. Then you will know for yourself if it's worth it, this always comes down to each individuals perception and priority. We have enjoyed all of or stays at the deluxes that we stayed at but never came away saying that they were much better then Mods. Now that CSR, POFQ and soon POR have queen beds, there is even less of a reason for us to fork over the extra $$.

It depends on what is important to you.

My absolute favorite place in the World is the World Showcase. If the kids are pooped my DH is happiest in front of a TV watching sports and I'll walk over solo. I love walking around there at night. After awhile I will just sit in one of the lands with a glass of wine people watching. Then I just wait until the crowds clear and walk back to the BC. It is the "vacation" part of my WDW vacation (ok meals too).

I love running around Cresent Lake in the morning also.

So I love the BC for its location to the IG.

Deluxe in the "real" world is not the same as at Disney. Some people complain the cost of Disney Deluxe is not on par with the 4 and 5 star hotels off property at the same cost. But the price of Disney Deluxe comes from location, location, location.

Agreed.

Op, Disney advantage is the location. Now you cannot compare them to the real world. So if you are expecting a normal deluxe when you move to a disney deluxe you will be disappointed.

That being said we do the deluxes because
1) we like being able to walk from epcot to our resort
2) we like indoor hallways
3) We like the larger rooms (from the values, I've never done a moderate)
4) We love, love the balcony

so those things make it worth it for us. We are dvc owners so that made it worth while for us.
