Deluxe water view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Has anyone stayed at AKL with a deluxe water view? Was the view nice? Did you see animals outside your balcony? I'm planning a surprise Christmas trip for DH and DD and AKL is their favorite resort, more particularly having animals outside the balcony. Thanks for the input.

You want a deluxe Savannah view. The water view could just get you a view of the pool.

I guess this post confused me. What type of room do you have booked today? Your first post implied that you had a deluxe pool view room booked but this post appears to imply that you have a regular savanna view room booked.

I would stay with a regular savanna view room as the "deluxe" only refers to room size and not the view.

Our nicest views were from the deluxe savannah views (fifth floor)==they were much nicer than our third floor regular savannah views (all around arusha rock). It could have been random, but my experience was that the deluxe savannah rooms also provided better views--at least for us it was that way.

I don't know about the other savannah views...sometime I'd like to try the others as well. Anyone have any pictures of the sunset or uzima savannahs?

Thats me, I thought you sounded like you currently have a savannah room booked, and were thinking of changing to deluxe pool view, right? Then since it sounded like you can't see the animals that are near the pool area from the deluxe pool view rooms as well as the animals in the savannah viewing areas, you are deciding to stick with your original savannah view ressie.... no?


It might be possible to see the flamingoes and giraffes at a distance from a deluxe pool view, but I'm not sure. We've had a pool view but it was low (second or third floor) and just above Jiko--we couldn't see over to the animal/ playground area from where we were.

We had a deluxe pool view and we could see animals from our room. Not up close and personal because we were also on the 4th floor. We also had a huge window in the hallway across from our room door that had a great view of the wildlife. We loved the pool view at night sitting on the balcony.

A deluxe water view room does not get you animals outside your balcony.

We did have deluxe pool view once, it was excellent, and for a short time in the morning there were some animals back behind the pool. I think they were slowing walking over to the main savannah.

Sorry for the confusion. I did have a reservation for deluxe pool view but changed it to savanna. I'm always adventurous and like to try different things and our stays at AKL have been savanna views. I could remember seeing animals by the pool but couldn't really remember the placement of the rooms and thought maybe with deluxe pool view you could see the animals. But, I re-thought the pool view reservation because this is a trip I'm planning for DH and DS and they like to have the animals outside the balcony. I looked at other boards on AKL and from the sound of things it appeared that I should change to savanna.

Thanks for all the input. Our family is fortunate to go every year and I look forward to trying the great ideas I find on the DIS boards.

I saw a few whales in the pool but no giraffes.

The pool view is worthless, IMO. Keep the Savannah room or save a few bucks and take the parking lot view.
