Just found out a lot of people from my daughters school are staying at AKL that I already booked...she does not get along with these kids...do not want to be on vacation and see them by the pool teasing her ! Staying for 6 nights Oct. 26-Nov 1...I hope can change to something else nice. I am a Ap holder and received the pin email. Stayed at Cont. in May and loved the easy plan to get to MK. Husband does not want to drive around and wants to relax at the pool a few days. I saw Poly for 244/night , Cornado for 107/night and Wilderness Lodge for about 170 night on Expedia. Seems like I am starting all over again. I don't know if I want to spend 244...but for convience and a queen size bed it might be worth it! How does the CSR rooms, buses, pool compare? Will 2 adults, 5 and 8 year old be cramped in room?

you shouldn't have any problem fitting into any moderate resort room with two small children. The value resorts would be another story. Coronado springs is a great resort. you might not enjoy the fact that you have no monorail at your resort but the bus system works great. also the pool at CSR is fantastic. the kids should love it. lastly, i have read great reviews about the food area at CSR but when i stayed there about five years ago i was not a big fan.

I'm sorry you have to change resorts at the last minute :(.

Have you called Central Reservations? Those Expedia prices look pretty high to me and I think you'll get better rates with your AP. I think you'll be comfortable in a moderate. CSR is a nice place for your DH to hang out. I also like POFQ. The minus to the moderates is the double bed v/s a queen.

Have you considered staying at the Swan? The Swan has AP rates around $160, it has a great location, a nice pool and heavenly queen beds.

I agree the rates are high for an AP holder. Check out the following link that shows what the rates should be:

http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#ewp

I'd call WDWTC and see what is availabe for your dates with teh EWP code or with your pin code.

An example with the EWP code the WL would be about $124 before tax.

(You are in the regular season).

BTW - We loved the WL when we stayed there this past July.

The Polynesian has some of the largest standard rooms in WDW and with the transportation you will not have to get in a car. Also the Polynesian has so much to offer just at the resort that your husband can spend time there and have lots to do or just relax on the beach near the pool.

I think the advantage of the deluxes is the location. If you can't afford the Poly and don't want to stay at the Contemp again, I would look into the Epcot area resorts. I agree with RobinB about the Swan. We loved staying there. The grotto pool is great, and $160 AP rate sounds good though I think I've seen it lower--around $150.

I was including the $10 resort fee into my calculation to compare apples to apples :).

I don't think you would be cramped in a Moderate resort. I have stayed in Delux, Moderate, and Economy resorts at Disney and have never really noticed a big difference in the actual rooms (besides hair dryers and things like that.) The beds at Pop Century seemed to be the exact same as the ones at the Wilderness Lodge just with different sheets.

I have always thought you pay for the surroundings and ease of transportation to the parks. Does anyone know different? Maybe I just haven't noticed...

Many of the deluxe resorts standard rooms are no where near the size of the Polynesian or Contemporary standard room so if you are compairing the AKL or WL or YC/BC room size to a moderate you are correct when you say the size is not that much different.

I can certainly understand your concern but it seems so unfair to your family that you have to switch resorts. Believe me, I know what is like to be teased and I would have wanted to switch too if I were in your daughter's position. You might not even run into these other families. But then, we ran into a family we know at AKL this past August. The AKL is a fantastic resort and it makes me angry that your daughter has been so traumatized by teasing that you are changing plans. Again, I can understand her feelings and she is probably looking forward to a break from the teasing.

Do you think these kids will ease off with their parents around?

I would suggest looking into an EPCOT resort rather than going with a moderate. I am so sorry for you and also so angry.

I know you are an AP holder but I was just curious if you have been trying the internet for your dates. We having been going in through the Fall rates and I am getting Contemporary for 205 per night. Is that good or bad? It is a Garden Wing room so I don't know if that is a bad thing. The AKL is coming up 151.00 per night. But the BC and the BW are not coming up for those dates so I guess they don't have good rates.

POR and CSR are coming up $94.00 per night. Is that good. Are the AP rates a lot better. Still trying to decide is AP is worth it. Anyways just wanted to see if you were trying those fall rates on the website.

Ugh...I would not switch from AKL to CSR. AKL pool is so wonderful, one of the nicest on property. I am guessing your plans and the plans of your daughters friends are not close to being the same and you probably won't hardly if ever see each other at the pool. I would stay where you are.

CSR is large and sprawling and depending on where you are..the hike to the pool is anything but nice or relaxing. Food court items..overpriced and not all that good.

CSR has a fabulous pool. We have stayed in AKL and CSR and we loved both. We stayed at CSR in March with my DD's (7,5,and 2). We loved it.

How awful for you to have to change resorts, but I would have done the same when my kids were that age!

Although I have not checked availability for your dates, they do fall within the time frame of the email pin number- assuming we recieved the same one recently! Here's the rates I was offered when I called (not including tx):

WL - $134 - Courtyard view
Cont - $149 Garden Wing
Poly - $209 Garden View
Beach Club - $209 (only 2 nghts)
BWV - $209

POFQ/ POR $79 garden and $94 water
CBR - same

POP - $49 standard, $59 preferred

Maybe you could switch to the WL? Those rates are very good and you'd still have water shuttles to the MK and FW for the Hoop-Dee-Doo - if you're doing that this time. It's a tough decision to change to a moderate, but I'd be considering the same based on the great rates you had for the AKL. It's a big jump to the Poly or EPCOT resorts.

As some have said, the size of the rooms of the moderates and AKL and WL are not that much smaller . A bit and you might feel it, but not like a value - which would be tight for 4. Some say the CBR rooms are a bit larger. I've stayed there as well as most of the moderates and deluxe - it did seem a tad larger than POFQ, but I could not swear to it!!

Sure hope something comes through for you soon!!

Christine
p.s. we've never rented a car and have used Disney trans sicne 1982 - never a problem - ever! We go back to the resorts during the day for a swim with the kids or nap or just to hang out for awhile. Very relaxing without a car.
<edit> Tikiman, your Poly website is incredible! It brought back so many memories that I dumped my budget worries and called tonight to change my res to the Poly. Great rate of $209 for 9/27-10/2. All the longhouses have new names since I last stayed there, but I requested 3rd fl, Tahiti or former Ohau.

ITA. I'm sorry for you and your family but .02 from one who was teased through years of school, I think you're doing the right thing. Even if you never see those kids your daughter may be worried the whole time about the possibility of running in to them. Why worry when there are so many wonderful resorts!

Also, with WL you can take the boat over to the FW for the evening movie and campfire. (At least I think you can! It seems like the same thing as pool hopping actually.) As long as it's not breaking rules your kids would love it. Also, FW cabins are really cool and have great breaks in price, ~$125 in Oct, if your girls would like that.

Best of Luck in whatever you decide.!

Try not to pick PoFQ though, k? Cause I've been trying daily to get in there with our APs and they don't have any openings! :wave2:

It is not "hopping" to go to the FW evening movie and campfire. Though we didn't have time to do it, we were told upon checkin at WL that these were available to WL guests also.

Oh I am so sorry you feel you have to change. You are a good parent. It makes me so angry that some kids have all the power, or think they do. What kind of adults will they grow up to be? Makes me sick.

Good luck in finding another resort.:D

I ended up booking WL with the AP rate. A little more expensive than AKL but I am really happy ,wanted to stay at WL. SO everything worked out. Thanks for all the support!

I think you'll love the WL! Request a room with bunk beds and you'll have a little more room and your kids will enjoy it :).
