Deluxe value season?

We are staying at AKL July 17-24. This is considered value season price wise.
Is there any particular reason the deluxes are given value prices during summer months? Are they less busy at this time of year? Would AKL be less busy during "value" season that in "peak" season? Thanks in avance!

I have wondered the same thing, we are going to be at AKL July 9-16 and wondered why that is considered value season since it is such a busy park month.

I wish someone knew the answer to this one. Our stay at POR is during regular season, but in August. I don't get it. I don't understand why some resorts are listed as value and some as regular season but during the same month. We actually thought about changing to WL because it is going to be value season.

I went to AKL last Feb. and loved it. It was the value season for Disney. As far as I am aware all the resorts should be following the same dates for the four different Disney seasons(val, reg, peak, holiday).

They should, but they don't. I just got my planning video today and found different dates and seasons for different resorts. Baffles me.

I think they base their "seasons" purely on demand for rooms during that time of year. I'd bet that the fall-winter-spring months are more popular for out-of-towners -- especially folks who want to escape their cold weather. There is a value season in January, but I don't know a lot of people who like to travel after the holidays have just finished. Summer months may be more popular for the local families, who don't need lodging at the park and who are used to the summer weather there. I know I'm planning an April trip, because I don't feel like braving the heat and humidity in July/August (I'm a wimp). Anyway, that's my theory.

It would be interesting to find out, but I would bet that the seasons for Disneyland are totally different.

I agree that it is based on the type of room in highest demand at different times of the year. I'm sure this has been analyzed & calculated very intensively by TDC.

I'm guessing that more families travel in the summer & that they often choose the more economical rooms due to the extra costs of bringing children (more airfare, more admissions) I'm guessing that alot of adults & repeat visitors travel in the off-season whenever possible, & we are the ones looking for the extra amenities that deluxes offer. Hence, deluxe rates being cheaper in the summer to entice that type of WDW visitor....

Of course this is pure, uneducated guessing on my part & I could be completely wrong. Just my theory.

Your theory does make some sense, though. I wonder if AKL is less busy in the summer...or full? I've never been to disney so all this is new to me. I don't mind humidity, grew up in Mississippi and visit there just about every summer. I just wonder how many animals we'll see at AKL in July.

we have been there in august for the past four years (ASMo, WL, CR, BC) and the only place that seemed even close to be full was ASMo. The other places were busy, but i think that was more due to the restaurants, monorail, etc.

Hi there,

We'll be at the WL in mid-July and I also wondered about why it was value season when the parks were so busy... When I asked this question previously I was told that the crowds at that time will mostly be coming from off-property and from the value resorts... it's value season at deluxes because their capacity is down after July 4 ... has nothing to do with crowds at the parks themselves. So what you all have figured out seems to be the consensus. For my part, I know I will have crowds at the parks ... we'll be doing EARLY mornings and then evenings... but if I have a less-crowded WL to come back to and enjoy in the middle of the day I will be very happy. :sunny: Oh, and an upgrade wouldn't hurt either. ;)

Makes me wonder if I should try for WL instead of POR. If I could get an AP rate at WL for value season it wouldn't be much more than an AP rate at POR at regular season.

See, it's working :) I have to agree with Leota on this. I think that more families tend to stay at values so they need to fill up the deluxes. If you could stay at POR for say, $120 a night or at WL or AKL for $150, what would you do?? I would stay at WL, thank-you very much!! Of course this being said...where am I staying after my BCV stay in June? ASMovies. Here's hoping for a really good AP rate.

And *this* is why we are going after July 4th!!! :rotfl:

We are a family of 6, so our choices are 2 Value rooms or we can fit in a regular deluxe room (1 under 3). I kept pondering it BUT 2 regular value rooms at "regular" season was about the same cost of the deluxe at value season (this is based on rack rate since who knows if any discounts will show up, etc...).

I struggled with it, since I would prefer to go in June but that "we have no restrictions, we can wait to go until after July 4 and get value season at the resort" won out.

I did have a hard time believing that middle of summer was *value* season for the deluxes but hey works for me!!!!
