Hi,
Which deluxe would be best for the thrid week of January. I was thinking of Beach or yacht club for the pool but at that time of the year I'm not sure.

Anyone been at this time and which resort would be best?

also how r the crowds?

The thing about that time of year is that it can be perfectly warm enough to swim on some days and then downright chilly on others. Also, even though the pools are heated the water temperature is generally cool that time of year.

I think any resort would be good to stay at. Now, from a pool standpoint, the YC/BC is the best, in my opinion. However, keep in mind that the main pool (Stormalong Bay) closes at 6:00 PM that time of year. So the other resorts' main pools will probably be open later. Also, all the deluxe resorts have at least one pool that is open 24 hours, so you'll still be able to swim late at night if you want. Also, all deluxe resorts have a hot tub except the Polynesian. So that may mean something to you, especially in January!

If I were in your shoes, then I would either pick the GF or YC/BC, depending on which parks I think I might be spending the most time in.

thanks.

I was thinking BC/YC also cause it is close to Epcot and MGM.

I didn't know the pool closes so early so thank you.

We go the second week of January and always stay at the Boardwalk Inn. We love being on the Boardwalk and enjoy the close proximity to EPCOT and MGM. The weather in January is always a little "iffy", so we don't count on using the pool.

I don't think you can go wrong if you choose a resort in this area. YC/BC or BWI. They are all beautiful resorts. It's really just a matter of theming.

Thanks. I totally forgot about that hotel.

We love staying in the Epcot resort area! We love the Swan and Dolphin because they offer so many discounts to various groups; government (both federal and state) teachers, nurses, etc.

Just beware that IBM's Lotusphere is held at the Swan/Dolphin from January 20th - 24th for 2008. They very often book up and spill over into the Yacht and Beach Clubs. If you need a reservation there, I'd be doing it very soon!

January and February are my favorite times of year to go, the crowd levels are somewhat less (but that's been changing over the last 3 years or so) and even though the weather can be iffy, it's still very nice!

Another FYI, lots of dance and cheerleading competitions are held in late January & February too. Best to decide soon and make your reservations. :)

:O(

sounds scary now....

Nah, it's not that bad! But you might want to make a reservation soon to make sure you get the resort you want, when you want it.

gotta discuss it with everyone this week.

thanks for the info.

We stayed at the Beach Club Feb. 9 - 18 of this year. I know it's about a month after you are going to be there, but I will still let you know what we experienced in case it helps to sway or lock your decision.

The weather was absolutely perfect Feb. 9 - Feb. 14. It was sunny and about 73 degrees during the day. Then on Thurs., Feb. 15th it rained and never got warm again. In fact in the wee hours of Sat. morning (Feb. 16th) Orlando hit 29 degrees!

We swam two days in SB at the BC. The first day (Feb. 11th) we swam was beautiful out. It was sunny and warm, but the pool water was very cool. In fact, I had to hang out in the small pool where the smaller of the two water slides are while my kids went down the small slide. The second time we swam in SB was at night. The air temperature was pleasant for night and the pool water was so warm and welcoming. We swam with the kids in every section of the pool for over three hours that night. We actually closed the pool down (at 8 p.m.).

So basically, if you are going to stay in the water, the air temp. has nothing to do with the water temp. I think it all depends on how high the staff decides to turn the heater up.

As far as the crowds go in the parks, they were very low until about Feb. 15th and at the pool, the crowds were VERY LIGHT!

Hope that helped!
