Deluxe Studio availability

Hi everyone! My husband and I will be purchasing 100 points at either Saratoga Springs or AKV in the next couple of months here and I am wondering what to expect for deluxe studio availability at the 7 months out for various resorts. I know that some resorts we will absolutely not be able to get and some will be easier. We are planning on travelling most years in February to beat the heat. I’d appreciate your take on what resorts we will have a chance to sample in the coming years. Thanks!

If you are flexible, and stay away from President’s week, then you will be able to find some options at 7 months,

I have had good luck during that time, it has required waitlists and stalking,,,and I only go for 3 to 4 nights,,,but have gotten places with my SSR points,

I also like split stays so that is a good thing.

President's weekend is the weekend preceeding the 3rd Monday in February. Initially, we celebrated Lincoln's birthday on the 12th and Washington's on the 22nd. In recent years, one federal holiday was declared to honor all presidents and the 3rd Monday of February was chosen. Most U.S. schools have the day off. Some even close to pupils on the Friday before the weekend, giving students a long weekend.

I also want to add that the Princess Half Marathon is usually run in mid-February and that makes studio availability scarce on that weekend as well. The Princess Half is scheduled for Feb 18 - 21 this year.

OKW and SSR are among the easiest to secure studios at the 7 month mark. I think AKV is among the nicest resorts in Disney. I also own there so maybe I'm a bit bias. Depending on time of travel, AKV studios have decent availability.

Feb has four different traditional demand periods for DVC at WDW (during covid times, it has been more unpredictable than what follows, particularly since there have been high numbers of cancellations to open up rooms at 7-months out that traditionally have not been open at 7-months out):

1. Feb 1 to the Thurs before Presidents Day: the lowest DVC demand time of the year.

2. Fri before to Wed after Presidents Day: somewhat high demand.

3. Thurs to Sun after Presidents Day, which is always the Princess half-marathon weekend: the highest DVC demand time that exists between mid-Jan and late Sep.

4. Mon after Princess weekend to end of Feb: a low DVC demand time.

As to availability:

Studios everywhere will likely be missing days at 7-months out for time during the Princess half-marathon weekend, no. 3 above, except SSR may be open and some lower chance for OKW or AKV Kidani savanna view.

AKV value and club level, BWV standard view, BLT standard view, CCV studios and Riviera Tower and standard studios are unlikely to be open at 7-months out during any of Feb except for a random day or two.

SSR, OKW, AKV Kidani savanna view, Poly, BWV pool/garden, Riviera preferred view and BLT lake view studios have a good chance of being open 7-months out for those Feb times in 1, 2, and 4 above.

BRV and AKV Jambo studios, and Kidani standard view are low probability during 2 above, but a somewhat decent chance during 1 or 4.

BWV boardwalk view, BCV, BLT Theme Park, and VGF studios are highly unlikely at 7-months out during 2 above, but have some, although still low, chance of being open during 1 or 4 above.

We are honestly wanting to vacation during late January/ February because we went during July last trip and found the heat to be unbearable, so with that in mind it sounds like the beginning of February is going to be our best bet! We are honestly wanting to vacation during late January/ February because we went during July last trip and found the heat to be unbearable, so with that in mind it sounds like the beginning of February is going to be our best bet! We don’t mind Saratoga springs if it’s all we can get but I’d like totry some of the other resorts as well so I guess we will just log in 7 months out and see what we can get!

Last week in January/first week in February are the ABSOLUTE best weeks to do Disney. And to do other vacations as well.

Another busy time is Mardi Gras since lots of people from New Orleans and other areas in the South leave their cities to the amateurs. However, this year Mardi Gras has been pretty much cancelled in many locations - no parades, no celebrations - in Louisiana. Mardi Gras starts on 12th Night (Jan 5/6) and runs until midnight right before Ash Wednesday.
