This is getting bad-Dh actually called me from work to ask, "Where are we staying again?" I had convinced myself that we should stay at POR to try to save some money. It seems like a lovely resort. Then I get these images in my mind...it's Labor Day weekend, it's HOT, it's rainy and I'm STUCK in my room or waiting at a bus stop and the bus shows up-it's full. I have RAD-resort anxiety disorder. I need my inside corridors-I'm even scared of the Poly and GF-running from buidling to building in a downpour doesn't sound fun at all. I need dining options. I need a closet. I need turndown service. The days of stayign at the values to save $$$ are gone:( I've created a monster- and it's me!

AHHH you found a name for it! I knew there was something wrong with me and you just described it to a "T"! Glad you've accepted your condition and know what to do about it! Pick up that phone and go make reservations! :)

Okay, I really want to believe you, I really do, because I would love a reason to justify to my DH why we should really stay at a deluxe over POR, where I have stayed at 3x. What makes the Deluxes so much better and worth the $$? I would love to stay at The Wilderness Lodge or The Contemporary. What are your opinions, are they worth it? (The POR bus does ALWAYS seem to be filled to the max.)
:hyper:

We stayed at All Stars twice and POR once and then last trip - Wilderness Lodge. I loved it so much - the theming, the convenience, the inside corridors (esp. pushing the stroller at 1 am w/ 3yo dd after she napped all day in the parks.) - so much that I jumped at a (small) DVC resale for the VWL - I didn't even check with the hubby!! Thankfully - he was happy about it and it deluxe all the way from now on!!

I'm with you all the way!!!

DH wants to stay value because "you really don't spend much time at the resort" But then he says we'll take a few days off from the parks and stay at the resort. Well, last year we stayed at AKL and on our "day off" our kids stayed at the pool for about 8 hours! They loved the slde and the activities the lifeguards kept doing with them. It was great!!

I'm the monster of this family. I just booked my family (6) in a Garden room at the Poly. (my youngest just turned 2 yesterday) It helps that we have a CM that is family, but DH is still growling about the rate. I don't care - I deserve a great vacation after being downsized recently.

PS. Never had SRO on any AKL bus like the ASR. With 4 kids and a stroller - that's my biggest fear.::yes::

I've had RAD for years. I'm sure my DH will be glad to hear someone's now come up for a name to describe my condition!

:worship: DELUXE RESORTS

Hi, my name is sherry and I also suffer from RAD :wave2:

Me too!!! We should start a support group or something. :hyper:

My name is Christy-I'm a first-timer and I already suffer from RAD!!

cart-mom-My husband says the exact same thing (we'll only be sleeping at the hotel-why pay a lot of money for that?!), BUT I'm the researcher of the family...we'll be going in Dec. and some of the parks close earlier, plus I want the resturants that come with the hotels we'll be staying at (WL & Poly). We also are staying for 7 nights, but planning on buying 5 day PHP, so we'll have down time.

I hear ya! We're taking MIL to WDW Thanksgiving '05. I was looking at POR over the weekend and just now was looking at the Fort Wilderness cabins- we can get one cabin rather than 2 rooms and save $$$.

If DH had his way (and he often does) it would be Poly or AKL concierge all the way. It gives me heartburn to even think about how much that bill would be! But we tried the Swan once to save money and it was a disaster so we're now a bit risk adverse when it comes to our lodging decisions.

Yeah, I thought I had it, till we stayed at CSR last year, then wow, I thought I was cured. Made ressies for this year at CSR(to save money), then 5 + 2 came out, changed to BC, oh no, relasped, there is no cure.

I'm a professional psychologist who has RAD, and I can help!

If you send me $$$ for treatment that will help me as well (nah, we've already upgraded from POR to WL:p )

My name is Tinkerbelle 739 and I too have RAD!!!

I already have ressies for 7 nights at WL. I also booked 2 nights at CSR at the beginning of the trip. NOW, I am changing CSR to a Deluxe, BUT which one!!???? I drive myself crazy!

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

I've had "RAD-envy" for years!!!!!! We haven't stayed deluxe in 16 years (although we've been to WDW 7 times). Oh, dear board members, I've tried - I've really TRIED to convince members of my family that we needed to stay deluxe . . . that I deserved to be accommodated in the manner fit for a Princess, but I have always been thwarted in my quest for the deluxe experience. Until now. In just 3 agonizingly long days we will leave for a 9 day stay at the Poly!!!!! My son's high school graduation (and our last private school tuition bill!!!) have convinced DH that we have earned the right to a blow out, super expensive, credit card busting deluxe vacation. Ah, the smell of sweet persuasion and success! It hasn't been easy - and I've endured a LOT of grumbling over the past 14 months (the moans at the cost of Princess breakfasts, the groans at the $12 refillable mugs which he's sure we'll lose, the eye rolling when my 6yo insists he needs to purchase - not rent - a $50 Pal Mickey) but I just go to my "happy place" and dream of the castle view from the Poly beach and ignore him. For all who are certain that deluxe resorts are an inalienable right, I salute you and wish you luck in your struggle to be pampered!

Hope

I first made ressies at ASMo/CBR, then switched to ASMo/WL...now we're doing WL/Poly GVC...I need help!! (but I think now that we're doing WL/Poly GVC I'm cured!!)

...Now maybe I'll add on more days....:bounce: :hyper: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I am definitely suffering from RAD. Just last night DW and I were discussing taking a quicky cheap trip to WDW because airfares are low and there are deals for rooms. A friend of hers is going in September and just found a good airfare. She changed her air reservations to save money, but now has a credit she is planning to use for a future trip. The friend is thinking of going again in December and staying at a either the All-Star or PC. DW thought that we should go too, even though we just got back in May. She said that we could get a cheap flight, use our leftover park passes from our trip in May and stay at one of the Value resorts. All I could think about was the small rooms, long bus rides, boring pools and poor food choices at these resorts. I want the Poly and nothing else (I have become such a snob). I am not sure how serious she is, but we will see. Jay

Oh thank God I'm not the only one. Want to know how bad it is, I just got laid off and the only thing I can think of is still going to wdw. right now we are at AKL but if I get this job I just interviewed for and a good AP rate, GF here we come!

Ahh Ha I have RAD too. I just can't ever bring myself to stay in anything less than deluxe. Never have and never will. What do you save? $50-$70 lest say an average of $250-$300 per stay. But you loose immediate transportation to parks, no restaurants to eat at after the parks close early, no kiddie activities. You are already spending $2000, what's another 12%
