My husband and I are considering booking the Deluxe Magic package for our 5th anniversary next April. We normally stay in concierge level rooms and I am trying to decide what type of room to book for this trip. I have read that if you book the Grand plan that regardless of the type of room you book that you have access to the concierge lounge at your resort. I was wondering if the same is true for the Deluxe Magic Plan?

I would really appreciate if anyone could answer this question since I do not want to book a concierge room if that is already included in the package. Thank you.

Sls23, I have my third Grand Plan package booked. What 999ghsts stated is correct.

I just thought I would mention that if you need a travel agent, Dreams Unlimited Travel is a great one (I have used them before). Here is their link (they specialize in Disney vacations of all kinds): Dreams Unlimited Travel's Website.

There is also a new service started by this website & Dreams that is called the DISavers. There is a membership fee to join (currently $49.95), but once you join, you can use them to book your vacation package (or room-only reservation) and you could save yourself almost 10% (minus a $15 reservation fee). For example, my Grand Plan reservation is several thousand dollars (and that is with a Disney Club discount). I will be saving, by using DISavers, several hundred dollars more. I don't know about you, but I have never received a discount on a Grand Plan vacation package before. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am about this new service. This is all my humble opinion, but I think you should at least check out the following webpage to make an informed decision for yourself: DISavers Website.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope your vacation is magical. And happy (early) anniversary!

Janet2k,

Thank you for your reply. I have always booked directly through CRO and received good Annual Pass discounts. I have heard great things about Dreams Unlimited on these boards but had not considered using a travel agent before since we have always booked a room only. I was wondering if the prices from Dreams Unlimited that you have been quoted were less than the rates from CRO for your Grand Plan package? Also, are the savings from DC membership year round or only during certain seasons?

It seems that I am trying to book the package too early since Dreams Unlimited only shows reservations for 2002 and CRO will only let me reserve the room at the current rate (not guaranteed for next year) based on the fact that our arrival on April 20 for 7 nights would be during peak season. The rate they quoted me was $390/night before tax which seems high but I figured I would keep it for now just to hold the room (we had the same room in December for $250/night). They also estimated that the package would be approximately $5800.00 (no airfare). The reason I am trying to book so early is that we have decided on the Honeymoon Room at WL and there are only 4 rooms available. What I may end up doing is pushing our arrival to a later date if that would put me back in regular season rates. Does this rate seem high to you based on your past experience?

Sorry to ask so many questions. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Dreams can sometimes get you better rates than CRO can simply because some CMs at CRO are not as rate-savvy as the Dreams agents are. Plus, Dreams will periodically check to see if there are better rates available for your reservation. Have you ever had CRO call you and say, “We just released a better rate for your upcoming vacation and thus will decrease your package price”?? I know in all my dealings with CRO, that has never happened. Nor have I ever read of it happening for anyone here on the Dis during my two years of being a member of this on-line community. Dreams Unlimited Travel is a great travel agency that provides wonderful service (especially that rate-checking service), in my humble opinion.

Now, if you don’t need a full-service travel agency, I will still point you towards Dreams Unlimited Travel. Why? Because they are offering a new service that is targeted at people like you & I; people who like to book their own vacation and find their own discount rate (if available). If you join this new service called DISavers and let them book the vacation that you want (and found through your usual legwork), you will receive a discount on your vacation (be it for a room-only or a full-blown package such as the Deluxe Magic). I won’t attempt to describe anything further since I am not a travel agent or a Dreams Unlimited Travel employee (I’m just a brand-new DISavers member). Please go here to find out all the details: DISavers Home Page. But note that once your DISavers vacation is booked, the Dreams folks will still periodically check to see if a cheaper rate is offered for what you have booked. I can’t believe that they’re going to do that. I find that incredible (and am so grateful for that added benefit).

This is all my humble opinion. I just want to point out that there are options available to everyone here that might help them (A) book a great vacation and (B) save some more money in the process.

As to your question regarding your current reservation, contact DISavers to see if they can transfer your reservation over once the 2003 rates come out. My reservation is for later on this year and it was with the Walt Disney Travel Company. DISavers was able to transfer my existing reservation for me (if they couldn’t, I was going to cancel it and then book a new reservation through them; since they were able to transfer it, they saved me some time, which was wonderful).
