Deluxe family needs advice for moderate

I would look at Swan and Dolphin. For your dates the rates are comparable to the moderate resorts but you'd be in a better location and could walk to EPCOT, HS and the Boardwalk area.

Another something to note is to look at Cheaptickets dot com. If you book there with the LABORDAY code, you can get an additional 18% of a Disney hotel for your time frame and save a little more. Not sure if it is enough to get you to two Deluxe rooms though! The code did not work for Swan/Dolphin. Happy planning!

Great tip! I booked on CheapTickets for early Dec at AKL with the 18% code. It was only $242 per night before tax. We are traveling with extended family, and we are on a fixed budget. We always stay deluxe and were originally booked at POR, but the coupon code allowed us to jump up to deluxe. :-) Definitely worth you checking out!

We have always been a deluxe family - GF, Poly, BC and YC

That said, last year we booked a ladt minute trip right after Thanksgiving to see the Christmad decorations and do the CP. We stayed at CBR and loved it!

We love CSR and I think it would be great since your teens are older. I agree with the previous poster who said that the pool at POFQ seems more suited to young children. As far as swimming in Dec - you might be able to, might not. We're Floridians, so we don't swim if the air temp is less than about 85 or so, but plenty of people from more northern climes swim when wouldn't think of it. All the pools are heated, so you very well may be able to swim.

The preferred rooms at CSR are in Casitas 1, 2, and 3. Those buildings are to one side of the main building (El Centro) and are nearer to the convention center. The fitness center (CSR is the only moderate that has one) is in Casitas 3, I think. So is the spa and the hair salon. The business class rooms are in Cabanas 9B, which is the building closest to El Centro in the other direction. It's very close to the El Centro bus stop. We stayed in that building long before it was made into business class and it was definitely a great location.

CSR is a beautiful resort with a lot of amenities. I think it would definitely be a winner with a family with teens.

I've never tried cheaptickets before...I'll go check it out!

Where do you enter the Code in Cheaptickets?

After you choose your room, there is a section to enter a coupon or promotion code right above where you put your credit card info. It is kind of hidden. Also, if the kids are free to sleep at Disney, don't add them the cheaptickets reservation because they will charge you (at least they used too). Call cheaptickets after you make your reservation and have them add them then.

They don't charge extra for the kids anymore. Orbitz and CheapTickets fixed that glitch. Constanze, did you find the place for the promo code?

Yes! Thank you. I'll look around for a new code since the LABORDAY one has expired. You are all awesome, as always!

For CSR which would be better: A preferred room, or a business class room?

It depends on your needs. Business Class rooms offer access to a private lounge open in the morning with continental breakfast options and in the evening with beer, wine, and snacks, all complimentary, and are the closest rooms to bus stop 1. They're also close to the bridge to the Dig Site pool.

Preferred Rooms are directly connected to El Centro via covered walkways which come in handy when it rains--from Preferred rooms you can walk all the way through El Centro to bus stop 1 and stay dry. We like the Preferred rooms for access to El Centro and bus stop 1.
