Hi--I'm new here! We are doing the Deluxe dining plan that entitles you to 3 table service meals per day. we were wondering, if for some reason we do not want to sit down and eat 3 meals, can you use one of our table service meals at a quick service resturant? Please let me know any info you can. thanks so much princess:

absolutely! you can use your 3 meal entitlements any way you wish. actually, you can use your total (3 times as many nights as you're staying) any way you wish! if you want to use 4 one day, and 2 another, that's fine. and you can do 2 credit meals so you don't actually eat 3 meals a day. i did it in may, you can check the link in my siggie to see how i used my credits if you'd like. any other questions, or if this makes no sense, feel free to ask!

you are so sweet! thanks! so if i'm getting this right, I can go one day and have a sit down breakfast, then for lunch use my sit down meal at counter service resturant. Also, there are some resturants that require you to cash in 2 of your meals to dine there, correct? how do i know which resturants these are? thanks so much for all of your help!!!

Marsh was right in everything she said. But remember, if you do more than 2-3 counter service meals throughout the course of your entire stay, you will most likely have diluted the value of the DxDP and negated its advantage. You need to be averaging two TS per day as well as a couple Signature TS during the vacation (i.e. 2 credit locations - see the link for which restaurants these are) in order to make the plan worth it. That's not to say you can't use the credits anyway you want. You absolutely can. But Disney counts on people getting the DxDP and then using one credit per day on CS. It's just not the best way to use the plan. Whatever you decide, eat well and have a wonderful trip.

I want to make sure I have this right (we will have 21 dining credits (3 x 7) but will only be there 5 days because of a DVC trade through II)

Can we have 4 meals in one day if we want to? We are not just limited to 3 meals a day?

Thanks for the clarification.

Theoretically, you could have all 21 meals in one day...

You might want to check into this further... I have no experience with it, but I remember reading a couple of threads where people had problems using more than 1 TS at each seating... for example you could only use 1 TS during the breakfast hours, 1TS during the lunch hours, and 1TS during the dinner hours... seemed silly to me -- maybe it has to do with their system and trying to make sure credits are used to pay for anyone else, but I remember one lady specifically had problems using 2 TS during dinner hours (i.e. early dinner and another late dinner). Hope that makes sense.

Long story but we had a lot of TS credits last year, and we used them to trade up to the signature restaurants in the resorts (you trade in 2xTS instead of the 1xTS to dine there).

These meals were great :cloud9: - first one was at Citricos in the Grand Floridian and it was so good that we immediately went back the next night. We also did Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge and California Grill at Contemporary. You might find it hard getting in California Grill for dinner (everyone goes late so they can stay for Wishes, but we went early - 6ish and got a beautiful sunset and then you can go back up to the balcony for Wishes - just ask your waiter).

Also making your reservations - those 2xTS restaurants seem to be a bit easier to get into - even if you have to go for lunch or early/late dinner.

Hope this helps, but this is a much better option than using a TS for a CS.

Have a great time!:flower3:

Are you sure it was using them or was it making the reservation? I've never heard of any problems using credits but have heard about hesitation to make 2 breakfast reservations at the same time as an example.

There isn't any limit on how many credits used in a day.

Raider97 or Stephanie ;)... I think I remember the story/lady you are referring to. In that case, she had other issues that complicated her usage of the credits and her full understanding of how the system worked. If I recall correctly, she was a single parent with her child, trying to use two adult credits at a single sitting in order to give her child an adult meal, which as we all know is a no-no.

Under the current system, you can make two ADRs for the exact same time at two different TS locations (a.k.a. "double booking"); you can make two ADRs, one for 6:30 pm and one for 8:30 pm if you wanted to have two dinners in the same night; and you can use 1 credit for the first dinner and 2 credits for the second dinner if those locations called for it. There is nothing to prevent any of these scenarios. As Allison said, there is no limit on the number of credits that can be used in a single day.

That was the one I was thinking of.... and you are right after re-reading her problem was using another TS on her child... I was confused since she mentioned she said she was told she couldn't use more than one TS in each dining window, but you all are right it was her situation not the actual rules in this case that barred her. Thanks for clearing it up for me too!!

Here is that thread....

This is what my DH and I are doing when we go next month. We will be there for 8 nights/9days and have it planned out so that we have 2 meals a day and several signature restaurants.

I am doing a solo trip with the deluxe dining plan for 14 days so that is 42 meals and 28 snacks let the gorging commense (just joking)

:cool1:

 all four of gained like 5 pounds, seriously......even with all the walking..........so much food but we will do it again and do more signatures etc...........I tallied up the receipts, the 2 of us racked up over $1100 including snacks..............the other 2 racked up a total of around the same, $1100, we really had some wonderful meals and we are all adults no kids this time so time in restaurants was looked forward too.....I did not really snack in between, there was no room to do so........:rotfl: we booked bounce back for next year, pleasantly surprised with ASMu, very pleasantly surprised........been to Poly, hated it, been to POFQ, liked it, CBR, liked it but to be honest the rooms are about the same size at the Mods as they are at the Values, I did not note any difference, I don't use public hot tubs so missing that amenity was no issue to me, if you talk to most ID docs, public hot tubs are a no no.......(Infectious Disease=ID) I have a pool at home, I swim often so the pools aren't a huge plus for me either.....I just don't mind the Florida heat........I cannot fathom getting into a public hot tub after people don't shower prior, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, it is like they are taking a bath, and trust me, for some, that is their bath for the night.ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. All of us booked suites next year at ASMu, more people are coming....................:cheer2: We drove and the parking was perfect, it was alot quieter than I imagined it would be, the pools were just as crowded as the pools at the POFQ and the CBR, the main pools that is....With each year, I get to relax more and enjoy things I did not see the year before, that is a luxury I know some don't get, so I do understand the park commando parents, especially when they are forking out a ton of money to go to WDW but what I cannot understand is dining at 9:45pm with toddlers.......we were at the Yaghtsman Steakhouse, honestly, 2 families had toddlers and babies there, they were SO FREAKING TIRED, they screamed and ran around, one has to wonder...........one family actually had one child wrapped in a TABLECLOTH on the table, SLEEPING, NO LIE.........the other family had the baby crawling all over the floor, in her pajamas, no joke while the family ate......the baby was crying the whole time and actually crawled over to our table like a dog and the family thought it was so cute............

I'm planning my 2nd trip to WDW for late November 2009. I want to use dxdp, how have others handled the current gratuity issue?

Rantybaby. The server brings your bill itemized with prices. There is a grand total and a "suggested tip amount" of 18% and 20% of the total bill already calculated. There is a blank line for the tip that you can fill in with the amount of your choice. The server rang up the tip amount on our KTTW (or you could leave cash or charge) and that was it.

Is 18% to 20% standard in Florida? :confused3 I tip 15% in Los Angeles, because California has a state minimum wage of $8.00.
