On our March 2006 trip to Disney (which was my first one since the 1980s!), we actually did eat three table service meals per day. (We were only there three nights, which means we had only two full days, and we wanted to maximize character meals.)
I just added up--at 2007 prices--our menus the first full day, not including taxes and gratuity:
Crystal Palace w/Pooh and Friends
2 adult breakfasts @ 18.99
1 child breakfast @ 10.99
TOTAL: 48.97
Liberty Tree
Colony Salad 12.19
Pot Roast 13.99
Child Meal 7.49
TOTAL 33.67
Restaurant Akershus w/Princesses
2 adult dinners @ 28.99
1 child dinner @ 13.99
TOTAL 71.97
TOTAL 154.61
Disney Deluxe Plan for 2 adults, 1 child: 159.97
(This could be plus or minus a bit...for example, it is possible I had a soda at Liberty Tree Tavern.)
I realize that with the Deluxe plan, we could have 2 snacks per person per day and so I guess we would come out $10-15 ahead if we did that. (I'm not sure we would actually each want 2 park snacks a day, though. We tend to bring stuff like Wheat Thins and fruit.) We could also have had a lunch appetizer and dessert, but not sure we would have wanted that.
So while I like the idea of the DDP, I'm not sure the package price makes sense from our perspective. (Our next trip is in October before it takes effect anyway, but just trying to think it through for the future....)
