For our next trip, my fiance and I were considering the DxDDP. We have never done a DDP plan before, but we really want to try a number of signature restaurants and we feel this may be the cheapest option overall. We usually only eat two meals per day and snack on granola bars for the other meal so we wouldn't mind using two TS credits for the signature places. Has anyone done the DxDDP? Any opinions on how good it is? Pros, cons?

Thanks!

Eating at Signatures is the best way to get more for your $$ on the DxDDP. I would recommend it! I was just there in December with my best friend, for a girls only trip and we loved having a nice long dinner every evening. We really just had 2 big meals per day, one of which was a Signature for dinner. Heavenly! Going without kids, I would definitely say it's worth it, especially if you are planning far enough in advance to make all your ADRs.

Eating at Cali Grill and seeing Wishes from there was a highlight of our trip!

My DH and I did the DxDP last year for our 5 day stay.

We had fabulous dinners at every signature dining establishment we went to and we really enjoyed it. That being said its A LOT of food. We tried to keep it light with the counter service meals and snacks but we felt like we were always eating. One difference between the regular dining plan and the Deluxe is that for your table service you get apps, main course and dessert, right there its more than I normally would eat.
We went to the gym everyday and I still came home 7lbs heavier.

Was it worth it....... absolutely. Would I do it again... no. I like to try everything once so I would go for it!!!!

I found that if you eat at a signature restaurant on the DxDP, you can often spend the entire cost (or close to the entire cost) of the plan in your one meal.

Also, I like to order room service and, although it takes two credits, it includes the service charge and gratuity so that there is no more out of pocket expenses.

We love it! We've used the plan twice in the past for a combined total of 20 nights, and we'll be adding 6 more to that count in March. It really is the way to go if you want to do a lot of signature dining or other two credit experiences.

I've done both DDP and DXDP

DX is great to do the big experiences - the dinner shows, the grand gatherings meals (if eligible) and the top line restaurants. The extra credits on DX opens opportunities for you. The extra snack credit daily makes it easy to eat at the 2ts places and use snacks for breakfast. The refillable mugs included are nice.

Downsides to DX (other than costing more) are:
- lots of time spent on your trip worrying about getting to your next adr
- lots of time spent sitting in restaurants
- more oop cost (tips on larger signature bills or on lunches that would be CS on the regular dp)

I loved both. If you're concerned about quantity of food, DDP is more than sufficient.

I used DxDP with my hubby & stepson in December and we loved it. Usually with two meals we covered the full cost of the plan. Hubby asked if we could go deluxe again for our trip in May.

oh, one more thing - while you don't NEED hoppers, using dxdp makes them much more valuable to have. The more adrs you have, the better it is to have hoppers.

We've gone to Disney w/o the dining plan. We've gone with the regular plan & last time w/ the deluxe dining. I love the Dining Plans!

Last time we tried the Deluxe plan our first time as we wanted to try lots of new places & would be out lots OOP anyway. We loved it. We did decide next time to do very few breakfasts. This time I wanted to try Kona, CP, we repeated Tusker House & had CM scheduled which we canceled. 3 meals a day is just not us. However, we enjoy the signature restaurants & we like getting an app. which we'd pay OOP w/o that plan.

Next trip we are doing deluxe again. This time will schedule lunches about 11 a.m. & sign. meal or dinner show most nights about 8 p.m. Will end up picking up one breakfast at our resort on our last day. Maybe we'll use a snack at breakfast some mornings. The way I'm planning at the moment we will use all our credits or only have 1 each left over at the end.

Last trip we used most snack credits to bring back gifts for our kiddos & grandkiddos. We just didn't need any snacks as we weren't hungry. Did find room to eat a white choc. dipped strawberry at Goofy's kitchen 2 times though! We had 4 TS credits left over on our last trip. We just couldn't eat any more. Plus our dinner show was canceled for bad weather & our back up restaurant was a 1 credit meal instead. We traded the credits for snacks at our resort. Not a great value but better than nothing. We came out way way ahead on the Deluxe plan $$ wise. Of course w/o the plan we would not of eaten all those meals either.

I find the DxDDP just to be the right plan, specialy when you want to try signature dining. We prefer to have late breakfast/ brunch and a signature dinner in the evening. We still need something during the day, and use our snack credits (bakery item and a coffee). I don't find it to be too much food at all, sice portion size in signature restaurants is not as it is in normal restaurants and the poit is not to eat until you can't anymore, it is to try new food and qulity food, at least for us. I also don't think that you necessarily need park hoppers with the right planing, the best restaurants are at the resorts and not in th eparks anyway. Try it and enjpy your trip!

When we tried the basic DDP a few years ago, we liked it so much that we said we wouldn't go to Disney without it :). Then on our most recent trip this past December we decided to try the DlxDDP and that worked out great :goodvibes. I thought it would be too much food because we always had plenty to eat on the basic plan, but we tried a few signature restaurants this last time and the plan just seemed to work out perfect for us :thumbsup2. We have a trip planned for August and then again in December and the DlxDDP is part of both trips.....now we won't go to Disney without the deluxe plan ;).
