If you purchase a deluxe AP pass are you able to do EE or do you have to stay on site for EE?

I was trying to decide on buying an AP before we leave for our trip on Tuesday but we REALLY like to do EE so that would be on Thursday. Would it be better to buy a park hopper and then upgrade after our EE morning? I wanted to do the AP online to get the $30 discount but now I'm not sure what to do.:confused3

Thanks!

If you are staying offsite, you will indeed need to buy the 3+ day hopper and then upgrade to an AP after enjoying MM.

I personally do not feel that MM is worth $30 per person, so there is absolutely no chance that I, personally, would upgrade from a hopper when the $30 discount is available (and don't forget that Costco deal where the AP is full price but you get a $50 gift card...that might be worth stopping in at a Southern CA Costco before hitting the parks, if the timing works for you!).

Especially if your trip is on the longer side, I personally just assume that you will have ample time to enjoy Fantasyland or Nemo at park opening on a non MM day. Then you can enjoy the non-Fantasyland and non-Nemo areas of the park, while the MM enjoyers are all stuck in their last MM lines. :)

We were also planning on getting park hoppers and then upgrading to AP's at the park so that we could use the MM first, but when the $30 off the Deluxe AP was offered, we decided to buy them right away. Instead of doing MM, we plan on doing Fantasyland on a non-MM day at rope drop. I decided that saving $60 for myself and my DS was worth the trade off!:)
