Delta's eBoarding Pass

I was just reading about the options for checking in for our flight and trying to see how using the Delta app and my iPhone for online check-in would work and learned about eboarding passes. My home airport isn't listed, but MCO and ATL are. That would mean I could use this feature on my way home and not need to worry about getting my boarding pass printed. (I hate to ask if anyone has used this type of boarding pass, because obviously SOMEONE has; however, I'm looking for experiences.) Have you used one and if so, was it a good thing or a PITA?

Use it quite often.

Are you traveling alone? Because I think it would be a pain with more then one boarding pass unless everyone opens it on thier own phone. I am not even sure you can have more then one person on the app....


you download the Delta app, check in and it gives you an electronic boarding pass. When you get to the TSA they will take your ID and have you hold the Iphone over the scanner until it "beeps" (Boarding pass must be on the screen at this point)

One word of warning. Sometimes the app won't open... it' has to connect to the web! So what I do is check in.... then before I get in line at the airport I open the app to make sure it's going to load the boarding pass. If it's not there is a Kiosk right by the security area where you can reprint the boarding pass...


If you are checking luggage, it's not really worth it as you still have to deal with a human.

When I did our on-line check-in with Delta in Aug. the option to do the eboarding pass was there. You would need a separate one for everyone in your party - at least that is what the instructions said at the time. I just did the normal on-line check-in and then had the return boarding passes printed out at the RAC desk.

I have not done this myself, but have seen people doing it and it appears to be a big hassle. It's easy enough to print a paper boarding pass at the airport. I would wait until screeners are more familiar with the technology.

I forgot that RAC can print the boarding passes when I check my bag in. I'll just plan on doing that then. I just didn't want to wait for RAC to check the bag and then also wait for the Concierge desk too. Glad I asked.

I flew Delta recently and they offered the paperless boarding pass. You don't need any app....it can come as an email after you check in. I printed paper just in case. The person before me was using it and, of course, the reader was having trouble so they had to ask her name, etc. I had my phone ready to go, then just moments before it was time i accidentally bumped a button that lost the screen with the image to scan. Instead of fumbling with getting back to the screen again I just whipped out the paper and gave them that.

I used the App to check in for my flight at the 24 hr mark, while standing in front of Country Bear Jamboree, saved me the effort of trying to find a printer at my hotel.

I have used it quite often and have never had an issue if it's loaded when I get to the airport. If not, then...

Delta "motivated" me by giving me "miles" for doing it the first time. I am a sucker for airline miles
