I am currently scouting out airfares for our trip in August and Delta seems to have a pretty good deal right now. Anyone have any experiences with them?

We use Delta and Southwest. I haven't been too happy with Delta lately because they always seem to change your flight times after you have already booked. Our April flight originally was for 220pm, it was moved to 327pm then again to 347pm. I called and was able to switch to the 710am flight with no charge because they changed the flight time over an hour from my original time.

Our February flight was moved up an hour as well. Also it seems like Delta is always late leaving Orlando, I don't think I've ever departed when I was supposed to with Delta. I do prefer Southwest because I haven't had those issues with them, but I usually just suck it up and go with the cheaper flight.

You can use the time change to your advantage. Granted it's a gamble, but book a (presumably cheaper) flight that doesn't fit your plan. When Delta changes the flight time (which they likely will do), find updated flights available and change to one that REALLY fits your plans.

We use Delta and have had good luck with rates and departure/arrival being on time. However, some of the flights list that movies will be available and then there aren't any. In fact, 90% of our Delta flights haven't had movies available. This may or may not be a concern for you. We like to have something to watch and were disappointed that there wasn't anything.

We have flown Delta quite a few times. They always change our times and our seats. I like to sit toward the front of the plane, we have small kids and quite a bit of medical equipment to carry on. It seems like every time they change the times they moved our seats....and always to the rear of the plane!!

Also ALL checked luggage has a fee! $25 for the 1st bag.

My one experience with Delta for a business trip was the trip from heck. Thank goodness they are not the primary carrier to Orlando from our area.

I have Delta sky miles, so I only fly with them. My next trip to MCO is in Oct. and in Jan, when I booked, they had a great price that I didn't use my miles. Already my flight time changed from 7:20am to 7:00am. I'm sure it will change again before Oct. Any how, I've never had a problem with Delta and enjoy flying with them.

Have a Non-WDW trip coming up with them. They moved my flight times three times and then canceled my flight. They put me on a regional Jet with a connection. Its only a 37 minute layover but the RJ has a performance record of more than 30 minutes late over 1/2 the time. I ended up cutting a day off my trip to get a redeye home nonstop. I did not relish the thought of sitting in detroit wondering when I could get a connection or where my baggage will go.

As to the actual service, I will post when the trip is over.

We fly constantly, both professionally and personally, and we've had great sucess with Delta over the years. Granted, we are Diamond Medallion members so we usually are treated very well. I can't remember the last time we had a flight time change. (More than just 10-15 minutes)

I've used Delta on my last 2 Disney trips and both times had time changes that I used to my advantage. Got better times for the same price.

just a side issue, they have a CC that can allow you not to pay baggage fees.

Hi there,

Delta actually had the best price for our flights from DCA to MCO (beat Jet Blue by over $100). The reason we ultimately went with JetBlue...free bags! I think Delta charges like $20-25 for each bag/each way. There are four of us going so that would be $100 down and $100 back just for the darn bags.

I've heard great things about Jet Blue and I'm hoping the kiddos will dig the TVs at each seat.

We've flown many times with Delta and have always had positive experiences, but I find myself getting annoyed paying so much for baggage.

When Delta, or any airline/flight, departs later than scheduled it's most often an air traffic control or weather issue - not something the airline controls (said the ever-grateful passenger for whom Delta once held a flight due to an airport snafu ). I've been on Southwest flights that have arrived at my departing airport late - but don't recall if we left late or on time - and I've been on SW flights that have arrived at my connecting airport after my connecting flight was scheduled to leave. So that's not a situation in which Southwest never finds itself.

Whenever any airline with assigned seats changes your flight time or equipment, absolutely check your seats. Reassign yourself, or call the airline for help. Regarding notification, any airline is naturally going to notify the first-affected passengers first. A flight change made in March affects the April passengers long before the October passengers. They'll get to the latter, but checking one's flights regularly online is a good thing

Most airlines, including Delta, charge less for checked luggage if you pay in advance. It's $23 for the first bag, or $25 if you pay at the airport. Sure, Southwest lets you check two pieces "free" - but for the most part, their rates aren't so cheap any more.

We fly whatever airline is cheapest. We flew Delta last summer and had issues but in all honesty they were great. We ended up with $500 in vouchers with them which enabled us to go to Arizona on spring break this year.

As others stated...lots of airlines change flight times and seats. Thing to do no matter what airline is be proactive and weekly track the flight information. That way if there are changes you catch them even before an email goes out (which lots of times they don't). We had our flight change both ways....going leaves 2 hours later which cut down a layover by 2 hours still leaving us with over an hour. Coming back we get in 30 minutes earlier.

Charging for bags...most airlines do this. Pay ahead on line AND pack light. There are 4 of us...2 adults and 2 teenage boys. We did Phoenix and California last summer and again in 2 weeks. ONE BAG for all of us! We each take a carry on and I have learned to pack all our stuff in one bag that isn't over the limit. Put shoes in carryon, etc. I don't see how each person needs a bag.

Some people won't fly a particular airline....go with what is best for you financially. Weather can cause changes for any airlines, a flight crew might have had a bad flight and be rude, bags get lost on all airlines, flights are late for all airlines. Airlines all penny and dime us! I haven't flown SW and don't like the 'cattle boarding' and idea of others saving seats, etc BUT if they were cheaper I would try them once and pay the extra money for EBCI.

I'm doing Delta this year. It was among the cheapest options & I stupidly thought it came with amenities. Ooops! It's an MD-88 with absolutely NOTHING for entertainment. Which is no big deal since it's absolutely fantastic that entertainment in the sky even exists. I would go with Jet Blue wherever it's available... as long as the price is right. I'd be willing to pay a little bit more for the perks on JB. You get in-flight entertainment and better luggage deals. If you are able to find a nonstop JB flight then you will be a very happy traveler! I still hope Delta works out for myself and anyone else flying with them!!!

I was on a Delta MD-88 this afternoon. They do have wi-fi (for a fee). Some Delta planes do have in-flight TV, the schedule will show it (some 757 & 737's).

I have flown Delta numerous times. No major issues to speak of. We have experienced some minor time changes (less than 15 minutes), but those are never an issues as we always build in some time buffers.
