Delta changed my nonstop flight to a connecting flight with a 1.5 hour layover in Atlanta.
I'm flying out of Huntsville, so I will be in the air approx. 10 minutes :rotfl: before landing in Atlanta and geting off the plane to wait 1.5 hours for another.
Do they do this often?
I paid for a nonstop, not a connecting, and that is what's bugging me.
Ugh!:sad2:

Hi!

I am so sorry they did that to you. :sad2: If I paid a lot for a non stop, I would call customer service and ask them what they can do for you. Maybe they can at least refund you the difference between the non stop and a connecting. ???? It is worth a try anyway... Good luck!

If they still have non-stops, call them and ask to be put on one of them. Delta is usually very accommodating when there are significant schedule changes like this.

They will generally change you to another flight if you ask OR refund you the fare. However before you get that refund make sure you can find something else you can afford and like.

I have a feeling that Huntsville flight just wasn't profitable and with no competetion they didn't need to keep offering it.

About 7 yrs ago, DH and I were flying Delta out of Logan to MCO and our flight was non-stop leaving at 7:30am and arriving in Orlando around 10:30am.... I got a call at 2:45AM :rotfl: (yes-that's right-2:45am) telling me that the flight was cancelled and we were being rebooked on a flight @ 2pm later that day and there would be a stop over in Atlanta and we would eventually get to MCO around 7pm     I thought it was a dream.... then our alarms went off at 3:30 am and I told DH what I dreamt... he said he DID hear the phone ring but fell back to sleep when I answered it. I called Delta to confirm and that was the story.... we had a town car picking us up at 5:30am with no way to reach them to reschedule, so we were going to be at the airport from 6:00am.... til 2pm!?!?!?! :rolleyes1  We arrived at Logan and checked in at the Delta counter... the woman told me that they had a few openings on a 9am non-stop flight and would we prefer that one?!?!? Heck YES! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ok-that was a long story-but yes-check and double check to see if they have something else.... GOOD LUCK!!!! Hope it all works out for you! :thumbsup2

My daughters flight was cancelled by delta and when I called I was able to choose the flight for her. I had a nice return flight picked out to start with ... went down from there. Her flight from Atlanta was severly overbooked..go figure. they cancelled a whole flight, my feeling is that it probably was not as full as they needed at the time of cancellation.

My main fear is that they will lose my luggage :worried: because of the connection.
There is another flight out of Huntsville leaving at 6:15 pm and it is nonstop.
Do you think I could get on that one without paying the re-booking fee?
Bottom line, a nonstop arrives in Orlando in 1hr 15mins and this other deal is going to take 4hrs!:snail:
Thanks for all of the advice!

By the by, I booked my flight with WDW online, and I have to call their reps. to change ANYTHING like seating assignments, etc.

Delta changed my flight many times on our last trip with them. We won't use them again.

Any time your flight changes by more than a half hour you can call them and they will work with you to rebuild your itinerary. We have done this many times and usually end up with better flight times. You can even change your flight to a different day if that works better for you. If there is availability, you will be able to get on that 6:15 flight without a problem. If the connecting flight gets in earlier in the day, I personally would go for that one. Layovers are not that bad. There is no guarantee on any flight that your luggage won't be lost. I do think it is funny that you will be in the air for only ten minutes though.

If they call you at 2:45 AM then it was not a "Schedule change" It was a mechanical, weather, staff issue. (ie the flight the night before was delayed due to weather and/or mechanical so the pilots have not had the FAA mandated rest.)

I am amazed that on the DIS that's BAD. I mean we all know it's better to fly with a broken plane then to wait and be safe???? WHAT???

It was apparently the weather in another state where the plane was coming from. It was going to be delayed coming into MA, so they cancelled the outbound MCO flight since there was no plane to fly on :rotfl:

Now my connecting flight from HSV to ATL has disappeared completely!:wizard:
There is a new list of flight times ranging from 7:10 am to 3:10 pm.
Calling WDW Res. to see which one I am fortunate enough to be on.
