We're considering flying Delta out of Sacramento, Ca next November cuz we can get a good red eye flight but we have never flown Delta before.

Flight goes nonstop to Atlanta then on to Orlando

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about them????

My mom said if you have nothing nice to say about something don't say it. I'm not saying a word ;)

If you found a good price and the times of the flights work for you then go ahead and take it. Delta will get you there and back. About the only suggestion I have is to make sure you have at least 45 minutes between flights in ATL.

My other suggestion is to watch your flights very carefully for any schedule changes once you have made the reservation. Delta is notorious for dropping flights and reassigning their passangers to a new itinerary. I just got off the phone with a Delta rep because they had just done this to me for our Oct trip. I had a long time on hold but was able to change flights from what I was "reassigned" to a flight time that was more to my needs without paying the flight change fee. You have to be persistant and keep repeating the "unacceptable schedule change" mantra, but it does work. In fact the supervisor rep I spoke with at Delta said that when schedule changes occur Delta wants their customers to be satisfied and will make the change without a charge. But you have to speak with a rep and can't make the change online. If you can set up a freq. flyer account, on Delta its called Sky Miles, you can link your itinerary to the account and then its very easy to check once a week or so for "changes".

We flew them in December. Many many times our flight changed by mere minutes and they would wipe out my seat assignments. You have to keep checking, I would check almost daily. They seemed to make a lot of the changes on Sundays. I said next time we'll use someone else.

We are going in March. Guess what? We are flying Delta. I know I have set myself up for possible frustration but we have non stop flights out of Boston at good times for $218. I was happy with the price, I didn't want to wait for Jet Blue or SW out of Providence, I just wanted to get them so we did and we'll see how it goes.

Flying Delta was fine it was more the hassles leading up to it than anything else.

It's been years since I flew with Delta, there are usually better timed/cheaper flights on other airlines. HOwever, in January I booked tickets for a trip (DSM-SFO) in June. Great times, both connections through SLC with 45-60 minute layovers. Couldn't have been better, and the cheapest tickets too. Having read the warnings about Delta here, I periodically checked my seat assignments and all was well.

3 weeks ago, I checked and not only were the seat assignments gone, the flights were too. Seems that in their infinite wisdom, Delta has done away with the DSM-SLC early morning flight, at least on Saturdays and reassigned us to DSM -Cincinnati - SLC - SFO. arriving 5 hours later than originally scheduled. I don't think so!:scared1: The other options are now flying though Atlanta - yeah, that makes sense. Let's fly from Iowa to California, via Georgia. Or via Houston on Continental. none of the options are good, but in the interest of sticking to our original plan, arriving in SFO around noon, we are now leaving before the crack of dawn on a 5:45am flight to Atlanta. Joy.

Coming home the changes weren't so bad. We now leaving at 10am instead of 1pm, but are flying through SLC with a good connection time so aren't traipsing all over the country.

In the future, I will consider Delta if I'm going east, as the flights through Cincinnati and Atlanta seem pretty consistent. Going west, I'm sticking with United through Denver, even if it costs a bit more.

I just had an opportunity today for good flight times and a good fare out of my home airport on Delta, but I'm not going to book it because Delta is notorious for moving those good flight times to closer to the middle of the day.

I'm waiting on Southwest out of Nashville, cause I know I can get great fares and great flight times that won't change.

OMG  I am so glad I asked!!!!!!!

Going to go book my redeye on United now - but we'll get in at 6AM - so more time at the parks :thumbsup2

THANK YOU FOR WARNING ME!!!!!!!!

Your last comment is the best one OP and good for all to remember - always take the non-stop if you can get one. It's worth the sometimes higher fare to not have to worry about you and your luggage getting lost during stopovers.

As far as Delta goes, they were my fave airline once, but not anymore. I haven't found a new favorite, but find SW worth what you pay for it and can handle the cattle call boarding arrangment as my kids are older and if they sit elsewhere for the flight I won't freak out. JB is OK too, but they don't seem to service Florida markets like they used to from Boston (maybe too much expansion has thinned the fleet to cover the old routes?).
