Anyone know if Delta #1895 from Boston was a Song configured plane today? We are leaving on this flight Wednesday and would love to know what we could expect.

Hmm, well, given that the plane was still in the air when you posted your question, I'm not sure who'd know...
But if you go to delta.com and check for the fare on your flight, then 'view seats', you'll see that the plane is a Boeing 757-200 with the all-coach-class, three by three seating throughout the plane. I couldn't find anything that stated definitively whether the seatback TVs will be operational, but...

I flew out to NYC on the Shuttle this morning and the usually early morning view of two Song planes at the satellite gates across from the Shuttle was still in place. These are the red-eyes from LV and LA and they turn into the first planes out to MCO and TPA each morning. So at least for the first flights they were still Song planes. If you look on the seat maps for the next few weeks, the BOS to MCO planes are all 75S designated planes which is the designation for the 757 Song seating arrangement versus the 752 which is the two class Delta 757 configuration. I did hear from a Delta FA that was in the security line with me that IFE is still in place, the Song spiel for departure is gone, and food for puchase is gone (you will get free snacks (peanuts, crackers, etc) and soda and can buy cocktails and beer. Have a good trip!!

Maybe I'll get lucky in two weeks and get one of the old Song planes!!! I think I'll bring a good book, though...just in case. :thumbsup2

I leave Thursday on flight 1895 and according to my ex-dil, who works for delta, that flight still has the Song planes

I am DYING to get feedback from Boston flyers this week as well. We are flying in June on flight 1830, the first flight out in the morning. I hope its going to be a Song aircraft as well. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll really hear anything till about next week when they all come back from vacation.

One other thing to note, the 18xx flights are old Song equipment for the next few months, but will start to be re-configured in late June to two class service. One of the BOS to MCO flights in May is 1251 (one stop in Atlanta but no plane change) and it is on Delta two class 757 planes.

A few of the flights from MCO to BOS are now 9xxx flight numbers (9700 for instance is a 7:05 pm MCO to BOS flight) and it is on Delta two class 757 planes.

How do you know this about 18xx flights? I am wondering because I have asked several reps over the phone whether our flights (1830) will be Song aircrafts (they put me on hold to check) and always come back to say they are not, they are the older Delta planes. I hope you're right though!

I subscribe to a site that gives lots more information than Delta.com on the flight. It shows ticket availability by class (great for finding flight availability using miles, upgrade availability, etc.). This site has the actual plane code that Delta Ops has currently assigned for the flight embedded in the code that calls the seatmap. This makes it easy to search any flight and see 75S (Song 757 layout) or 752 (Delta 757-200 two class aircraft). This is what I have been sharing with the board as people ask. It's not infallible, but Delta very rarely changes the planes within two weeks of the flight date. Delta had two very big Ops items that have made May such a moving picture. One was the Song re-integration and the resulting schedule changes and equipment re-allocation. Two was the introduction of lots of new international flights from JFK (plus a few from Atlanta) and the need to add feeder flights to fill the new metal. Lots of new routes now feed JFK as Delta announced last month and when you look at how Delta did it, they did it by cutting the number of flights in Boston and Hartford to places like Orlando. Given May is a slow month to travel to Florida from Boston, those moves do make sense for Delta - just not for us people who want to go during "off season". Best of luck with your flights.

Sorry I didn't answer your question on flight 1830 from PBI to BOS. I looked for the next few weeks and this flight is definitely still shown on ex-Song 757's. The same is true for the BOS to PBI flight 1833. Most of these planes are close to sell out, so for Delta to change from a Song to Delta 757 configuration they'd have to find seats for a lot of people displaced from rows 1 to 8 as the Song 757 has 45 seats in those rows and the Delta 757 replaces them with 24 first class seats. The Delta 757 has 159 coach seats in rows 19 to 45 and the Song 757 has 154 coach seats in rows 9 to 35 in addition to the 45 in rows 1 to 8. Delta could only "swap" the planes easily if the planes have less than 154 paid passengers. They can "swap" less easily if more than 154 people are paid for a flight by upgrading Medallion status flyers to the First Class area to fit the new configuration. Of course as those of us who know Delta know, they don't usually do re-seating, they just show you as on the new flight with no seats until you cal lthem to fix your record.

If you let me know the days you are going to/from West Palm Beach I can look them up specifically and get you an answer.

BigTigger, wow thanks. We are flying June 19 BOS to MCO (flight 1830) and flight 1836 MCO to BOS on July 1. Thanks again!

The 6/19 flight has an Ops hold on the plane seats. This could mean a change is pending. Right now it is still an ex-Song plane. The same for your return flight, but it is nearly sold out, so changing that one will be hard as I noted above.

If you PM me a few weeks before you leave I'll chack again for you then and see what the inventory shows.

Hey, thanks again, I really appreciate it. Not good news about the flight going down, hopefully not a big change. But great news on the one coming home. We'll see.

bumping for recent boston travelers?

Our May 3rd flight at 7:15AM to Orlando and our 11:25 flight back on May 7th were both Song planes. Worked out great for our kids. Snacks are good too. Too bad these planes are no longer going to serve Florida.

That is terrific news, thank you. Now I just need to hold on for 6 more weeks for the same to be for us. I hope so!
