Is there a classification for a joint or family account with Skymiles? DH and I fly quite a bit and we have a Skymiles AMEX card. So far, we've amassed many miles. Since the Skymile account is in his name, I figure he can cash in his miles for tickets for both of us. But I'm curious about the earning part. As it has been, only his miles flown counts. What about my miles? Do I have to set up my own account? Is there a way where both our flown miles can accrue together?

To my knowledge, there is no "joint" type of account available with Delta Skymiles. However, if you're flying along with hubby, you've been missing out!! Get signed up with your own number, and give both when you both fly.

They won't let you combine miles for awards, but you could quickly earn enough on your own account for your own ticket. For example, my hubby has enough mileage for 3 tickets right now, and I have enough for one. When we take a trip, his account will pay for 3 of our family, and mine will pay for the fourth.

Hope this helps.

It does, lady400....:) Thanks a bunch!
The downside is that DH flies a lot more than I do. He works for a French company, and he's already been sent over a few times. So he earns most of those flown miles. I will definitely look into my own account though. I've got a trip to Albuquerque this fall, so that should be nice with the miles. The only problem has been seeing a good sale fare to ABQ. Oh well. Maybe it's just one of those cities that rarely goes on sale. Thanks again for the input!

I was told that each member of family has to have their own skymiles account. If you have AmEx membership awards accounts you can transfer the points to each of the linked accounts to add to the miles. Now that I think about it, I'm not quite sure how (or if) they would do this with the kid's accounts. Anybody know?
