On April 29th after landing at about 2pm, I took a look at the line for Delta going through security, there were maybe 6 people on line.
Returning on May 10th at 6:30pm we had 4 people in front of us.
I know there had been some recent discussion on this and I just wanted to let you know my experience with Delta.

You got lucky. I still would allow plenty of time to go through the security checkpoints at MCO.

I'm a little confused - airlines don't have their own security lines. I am assuming that you are referring to the general security line going to the gates served by Delta, not the Delta check in counter, correct?

I agree that if this was the general security line, you may just have been lucky based on the last 6 months of crazy lines at MCO. Glad that you did get lucky!

Sorry for the confusion. Yes this was the general security line going to the Delta gate.

My next flight coming up is with JetBlue, but I will take a peek at Delta.Just curious here.

The A security side is usually quite busy. I am sure there are times when it isn't busy but I wouldn't plan on it.

It does vary greatly by the time of day. When I flew in on Thursday 2 weeks ago around 10:00am, the lines I passed were huge! When I flew back on Monday around 4:00pm, the lines were only about 10 minutes (gates 1 to 59 end). Problem is, you don't know what you are going to hit so you have to allow for the worst.

Get there any morning and take a look at the lines. You flew at off-peak times so that is why the lines were shorter.

Our flight out of MCO is at 7:00 am. Do we really need to be there at 5? THat would make for an awful long day since we then have 4 hour drive from BGR back into Canada!! LOL

Yes you will need to be there that early. Lines are usually long at that hour of the morning so unless you enjoy running to your gate or missing your plane allow that time in case the security lines are long.

I was waiting for my parents at the Delta gates on April 29th at that time and you're right the security lines weren't too bad. When we flew home we went through at around 4.30pm on May 6th and it was very quick.

My experience of MCO was great this time round apart from the lines at the car hire desk and them not being able to find our booking, but that's another story.

If the B side is busy, check out the A side and vice versa. It could save you a bunch of time.

If you are going to the B side going through security on A is not going to help you.

Actually, security at MCO is divided by gate number, not just A & B. One security area serves gates 1 to 59 (A side 1 to 29, B side 30 to 59), the other serves gates 60 to 129 (B side 60 to 99, A side 100 to 129). If you need to get to B 80, jumping into the B line for 30 to 59 isn't going to get you there.

In other words one security area (gates 1 to 59) serves half of A and half of B and the other security area (gates 60 to 129) serves the other half of A and the other half of B. If you are looking at the B line and the A line you can also see is less crowded, going over to that A line will get you there OK (or vice versa). Follow the signs for your gate first. Then the wrong security area cannot be seen from where you are.
