Delta seating arrangements

I think we have decided to just go with Delta for our return trip. Price is only $6 more than SWA and we can use a closer airport. I have not bought the tickets yet, but was curious about the seating arrangements. I know SWA is first come first serve, but I thought Delta was assigned seating. The options for seating is a drop down and had "aisle or window". There are 3 of us and we would like to sit together if possible. If we choose one of these options, does it mean we all would get the same and be broken up? The option is only available for the first person on the reservation. Thanks.

When you finish making your reservation, you will have a chance to select seats. You will get a map of the plane showing the seats that are available, and you choose what you want. I love this about Delta. I will go on several times before our flight to see if other (better) seats become available.
