Delta seat availability @ online check-in

We're leaving for the World tomorrow!! I used online check in this morning exactly 24 hours prior to our 8am flight first leg tomorrow morning. I thought Delta released remaining seats 24 hours prior, but there are NO available seats. Is the flight sold out, or is there a delay? My second leg (DTW-MCO) doesn't leave DTW until 9:35am, do I need to wait until then to see the seats?

I'd really like to get closer to the front. Right now we're row 37.

I just called on this same topic and I was told that since our flight is at 8:20 am they would not release the seats until 7:05 am. So its only about an hour.

I see. I understood it as they released seats at 24 hours. So, the best thing to do then is check at the airport as we'll be to the airport an hour early?

He said that the ticket agent or the gate agent would be able to move your seats around once they unlocked them. We are in 33 and would like to get closer to the front also. We have 3 kids and its just easier to get on and off.

Don't forget that Delta loads by zone. That usually means first class first and then from the back forward so if you have seats in the back on the way to MCO you would board quicker than the front.

Delta saves the seats in the front of coach for Medallion members, which are very frequent flyers. Any not booked would be available at check-in but finding seats together is going to be hard.

Also, if you are close to the front, you will board last and will be more likely to have to gate check bags. Medallions get to board in zone 1 or 2 and claim overhead space first.
