DELTA PILOT'S STRIKE VOTE (when is the deadline?)

Isn't it deadline for the strike vote on April 15? If the pilot's decide to go on strike, will they really have a cool off period of 30 days? or will they strike right away on April 15th? My delta flight is APR 20 SFO to MCO and MAY 7 MCO to LAX...it is safe to say...if Delta goes on strike it will be around mid MAY?

I am so confused...DELTA OR AA??? My DH like to stick it out with Delta since flight sked is the one that we really like, by changing to AA we have to pay additional charges of about $ 300++ for the 3 of us and flight sked of AA has stops, Delta's flight is direct.

But, I on the other hand am worrying that it would be too much of a hassle for us to arrange for flights if Delta does really goes on strike especially since our SFO to MCO flight is on April 20th..too close to APRIL !5. We called our TA and they said that it is the responsibility of DELTA to book us on other flights if it does go on strike...is this true?

My understanding is that mid April is the date the arbitrator has to do SOMETHING if DL and the pilots don't come to an agreement by then.

Now, the airline claims that some "railroad act' applies and there HAS to be a 30 day cooling off period. The union of course claims no such thing applies

It sounds to me like you already have tickets? Frist find a NEW TA for future flights or book your own ... A GOOD TA will help you deal with DL if flgihts go on strike. And yes, if DL strikes they are suppose to write you over to another airline. (However, having been down this road on an AA strike, our TA called AA and did that for all of us. If you have to do it, then what was the point of using a TA)

If I had tickets, I would probably NOT buy new ones unless I was buying FULL fare refundable tickets so that I could cancel and get my money back. Also, keep in mind that if DL strikes and you fly on those full fare tickets DL probably won't refund you for them.

I can't find a good source right now, but I actually don't think the union has held the strike vote. If they do that around 4/15 (which I think is the plan) it would still take a little while to go on actual strike! (Probably the vote would be another negoiation point!)

I am travelling from the Philippines and my TA is also from here, hence, all the questions...we are in the dark about Delta's impending strike, even my TA doesn't know it, I was the one who informed them, if not for this board I would be in the dark also!

I really need your advice, I have read your posts and I really think you are a seasoned traveller who can help me make my decision

I have DELTA tickets now, I have a chance to rebook the tickets and change it to AA but have to pay rebooking fees and fare difference, total for the 3 of us is around $300. AA flight schedule is really not that desirable since it has stopovers along the way. My husband want to stick it out with Delta, hoping that it wouldn't go not strike, and he likes the flight sked of Delta better. If Delta does go on strike, it will be up to us to arrange with Delta since our TA from the Philippines is of NO use at all if the sitiuation does arise.

What do you think we should do? Stick it out with Delta or Change to AA??

My normal advice would be just to wait and see, but your plans are more complicated then the average "I am going to Disney World" I would be tempted to make the change.

Keep in mind that if Delta strikes, you will have thousands of people competing for a few empty seats on other airlines. Most airlines are flying close to capacity these days, especially to popular destinatinos.

If your Delta flight was booked through Travelocity,do they have any responsibility in finding an alternative in the event of a strike?
or are you S.O.O.L ?
