Anyone have any info on this? I am booked on Delta on Thanksgiving day and have heard rumors that this is when they will be striking. Eeeeep! I did some news searching but haven't found any updated info.

Starting to panic.

Check over on www.flyertalk.com and see what the buzz is. It wouldn't do Delta much good, in fact, I think the CEO said it would be "murder-suicide".

Maybe Delta is following the bad example of their Italian partners at Alitalia. Those people are on strike all the time.

I'm flying Delta to Orlando right after Thanksgiving. A strike probably won't happen that soon.

Delta's pilots are threatening to go on strike -- that's not in any way related to actually going on strike. While it is likely that they will continue to threaten, it is very unlikely that they'll actually do it.

I can only say one thing to the Delta pilots, Eastern Airlines. :confused3

I was talking to a Delta agent who was very impressed with Gerry Grenstein. If anyone can pull Delta out of bankruptcy, this individual felt that Grenstein could. When Grenstein came aboard, he was given a salary of $500K, no bonuses, etc. He then asked for a 10% pay cut from all Delta employees and then took a 25% pay cut himself. When he had to come back an ask for an additional 9% (I believe) he took another 25% pay cut for himself. He does participate in the "pain". There will be those who will argue that he should not be making what he is making. But, if Delta is to survive, they need someone at the helm with business acumen and the willingness to get the job done. One philosophy that he would like to implement, according to this particular person I spoke to, is, if you have earned the miles, you shouldn't have to scramble for them 331 day out. If there is a seat on the plane, you should be able to get it. That would work for me and I would feel even more enthusiastic about my customer loyalty.

Thanks for the link. :)

As a former flight attendant with Eastern Airlines I couldn't agree more!!!

Also, I believe in order to strike there needs to be a 30 day cooling off period!! So those leaving on or around Thanksgiving should be safe. however, they could always use a 'sick out' which they have done in the past!!

I wish you luck!!!

My family is flying Delta out of Chicago to Melbourne FL (to come visit us) on Sunday and returning on Nov 30.

DH is hoping the pilots strike before then. :teeth:

My guess is that they will target Christmas, when they can really make an impact by striking. Unfortunately, that impact might well kill Delta. Mandy and I are flying Delta to Jamaica in January. I hope there is still a Delta left to fly on by then.

The other effect of all these threats is to put pressure on Delta from the public. Upcoming passengers start flipping out and potential passengers book other airlines.

We are flying Delta 11-30 and back on 12-07...... I hope nothing happens then!!!
