DELTA on Time?

WE are flying Delta in May, just wonder if they are on time or do they have lots of delays? We only have a 50 min window to catch the connecting flight in Cincinnati, down and back. We are flying out of Spfd MO.Also we did not book this are self. No complaint here, This is a free trip to WDW we won on CLEAR Channel radio. Just don;t want to miss our Connecting flight in Cincinnati... Thanks

I don't have any experience with the airport in Cinncinati, but here's my take:

Many airlines 'pad' their flight times, so even if they push back from the gate a few minutes late, they will still arrive on time or early. Even if you took off exactly on time, and landed exactly on time, you would probably be fine. 50 minutes is not a ton of time, but you should be OK.

I would not dawdle, or stop off for something to eat or anything. Maybe a quick restroom stop,and then get right to your new gate.

In my limited experience, the Cincinnati hub works as well as any. You can quickly get from one terminal to another by shuttle buses, and the terminals are not that large. And if an incoming flight is delayed, there is a very good chance the departing flight is delayed as well.

I agree with the other poster. Usually you get there ahead of time if your flight departs on time.

If you look at the stats to see if the flight is on time, the airlines play a "game" if they think they are going to be delayed. They push back from the gate and sit. It looks like they left on time but they could be sitting within 10 feet of the gate.

You should be okay in CVG. More than likely you will come in on a smaller plane in the C terminal and then have to take the bus to the main terminal. That should not take you more than 10 minutes to get to your gate. If you are running late, you can always use the bathroom on the plane. Most likely there will be other people on your flight that will be connecting with you and if it looks like it will be close for your connection, they may hold the plane for a few minutes. Also, as long as you are not the absolute last flight out for the night, if you miss your connection, Delta will try their hardest to put you on the next available flight out.

The airlines do pad. The flight from Nashville to Atlanta is 30 minutes. It shows as an hour on the schedule. That gives them time to fly around Atlanta and then tour the Atlanta airport on thier way to the gate.

I missed our connection once Delta flight from MCO to CVG to EWR. There was a big rain storm in MCO which made us be delayed by over an hour, our connection was within 50 minutes so we missed the connection. We were put on the next flight out. Just make sure you check in to the next flight. We were told by the stewardess of our MCO flight that we were already checked in for the next flight. But I like to double check everything, I went straight to the Delta desk and asked about being checked in and it was a good thing I did, because we were NOT checked in. Anyway, we made the last flight out. You are going at a good time though, I don't think May has a lot of storms, we were there in July. HTH

If all of your flights have 4xxx, 5xxx, 5xxx, or 7xxx flight numbers, then all of your flights should be commuter flights operated by Delta partners.

If that is the case, then the transfer is easy. Your transfer will be completely at the commuter terminal and that is a self-contained area with literally no walking.

However, if your flight into Orlando from Cincinatti has a 3-digit number or a 1xxx #, then that flight may be from the main terminal and you will have to take a bus from the commuter terminal over to the main terminal.
