Last night I heard on the news Delta would be having a big fare sale to increase business and help them stay out of bankruptcy. Has anyone else heard this and what happens if you have a reservation and then they do go into bankruptcy?

No change in prices this morning. Still $373.50 round trip for us so I'll keeping waiting and watching.

If Delta is in Chap 11 bankruptcy the flights would go on as usual. Many airlines are in bankruptcy and flying with no problems.

just saw this in the New York Times yesterday. Said the sale begins next week, I think.

I also love that changing your flights will now cost $50 rather than $100.

I wonder if we'll be able to get a refund on our already-purchased tickets??

What are you looking for a refund on? If it is because the price dropped there may be a fee involved to get the price difference. Otherwise you probably have non refundable tickets.

"Refund" might have been the wrong word...

If the price goes low enough (doubtful, I know!), it might make sense to cancel, pay the $50 per ticket, and rebook. We'll see...

I am not sure this is as much to "prevent" bankruptcy as to increase business. According to what I have read it is not really a fare sale, but a fare restructuring. For example cheap fares would no longer require Sat night stays etc..
We will see if it lasts. If my memory is correct, AA tried something like this years ago when the other majors didn't follow it went by the wayside. So who knows?

If we have non-refundable tickets, then we can't just cancel, can we? Wouldn't we be out all of that money, not just the $50 fee? Help me out. I only fly every 2 years, so I'm not very air savy. :cool1:

we have reservations on Delta in April - I called today to see if I could get a flight earlier in the day - can't wait until 4 pm to arrive - want to be there by noon - anyway - the cost to change the flight was $50 per ticket - I thought about cancelling the flight and rebooking but that made the coast of the flight go from $213 to $671 - they did tell me that if you want to change flights you can call on the same day and as long as it is within 3 hours of the new flight departure time then the cost would only be $25 per ticket - so for me that would be calling at 4 am ....hope that helps....

if you like delta try song, we did delta last april, was ok, didnt like the layover(seems almost all delta flights stop in atlanta), but the song flights do not, they are all direct, each seat has sattelite tv(no extra charge), nicer planes, cheaper tics, direct,ect... so we booked song for our april trip.
