Delta companion

Have a couple delta companion tix. Booking for 5 of us. Looks like I can use 2. Thought I would buy 2 tix and use one companion (so 3) and then get 1 ticket and 1 companion. But looks like I can only book 2 tickets and then 2 tickets and then I guess one separate (last person is an adult but I always pay for her) > Is that right? and can I use my miles for upgrades for all or only the reservation with me on it?

You can only upgrade your companion tickets (paid or with miles) if you have the Delta Amex Reserve card. With just the platinum your seats are not eligible for upgrade. If you have the Reserve you can upgrade or book C+/FC and have your companion get it as well.

oh really i read somewhere I can still upgrade with my miles regardless.

I have delta Amex platinum and just upgraded our tickets for Oct with miles and one is a companion pass. I got the tickets a few months ago. It showed miles or points to upgrade to go comfort plus or first class. We always use miles to upgrade to first class.

UPDATE: Had to do 3 separate reservations since there are 5 of us but used my 2 companion tix and used miles for upgrade!

Anytime I've booked a companion pass I've been able to upgrade.
