Delta changing time on early flights?

Thought you probably did, I just didn't want to assume.
I see one with a stop at Atlanta that would work. It only has a 40 minute layover though. Would that be enough time to get to another flight in time?

It depends.

Do you have anything that would potentially slow you down during the connection? Slow walkers, toddlers, etc? Atlanta is laid out actually very well. I would book that short of connection if it was just me, and probably would if my family was with me. But my youngest is now 16. I would not try that with a child under 5 or someone that needed a walker/wheelchair.

No there won’t be anyone that would slow us down. We also only bring a carry on each.

One thing to keep in mind (depending on the size of the carry on and the size of the plane) is the carry ons might get "gate checked" (left at the end of the jetway in CVG and picked up in the jetway at ATL). That could cost you a couple of minutes.

Look and see if there are other connecting flights later just in case you miss your scheduled connection. There probably are. If there are, I wouldn't hesitate to book a 40 minute connection. Delta is good at making other arrangements.

There are several connecting flights to MCO that day. I might choose one with a longer layover just to be on the safe side. Thank you for your help.

This is where my cheapness comes into play. If the 40 minute connection is drastically cheaper, I'd definitely risk it. Heck, even if it's close in price, I'd probably risk it. lol

I'm wondering why a measly 45-minute change would have you contemplating changing to a non-direct flight? I mean...unless it's a big $ saver to do so, I prefer to avoid Atlanta, Chicago, and wherever else as much as I can.

We fly out of CVG often and Louisville is closer to us. You may also have a little luck with Lexington's airport.
Not to mentiom, you double you chances of problems on connecting flights.

You now have to worry about the weather impacting your flight from wherever your connections is coming from.

Double trouble for all connecting flight.

We always look for direct flights first, and pay more if one is available. Its less anxiety, less time, and less stress overall.

ONLY if the other flight is 30% or more do we consider it.

Delta is well known for changing flight times by 30 minutes or less….they do it often.

Good point. There may be more risks of trouble with connecting flights.

30%? Not me. That's $100 difference on a $300 plane ticket. If I can save $100/ticket, give me the connection.
I have found the cost and aggrivation of a missed connection is way more than that.

Delta left me stranded for 8 hours last connection flight….not reason given.
