I have booked 2 one way tickets flying Airtran from Columbus to Orlando on Nov3 then flying Delta from Orlando to Columbus on Nov11. I booked both these fights on June 1st. I booked these flights early because my #1 concern was to get a direct flight. I am traveling with a 1,3 and 8 year old so it was very important that I did not have to transfer to another plane. Well I checked my email and on Oct 9 Delta changed our reservations. Everything is different with these reservations except the date we fly. The most thing I am very upset with is now they have us transferring to CINCINNATI for an hour. I called Delta that day and they said they can give me a 50.00 vouchure per person to use within a year. I said there is no way I will be flying again within a year with all these kids. She than said she could refund my money and cancell the reservations. I told her I would call her back after I looked for something better. Well its a little to late to do that now because the prices are sky high to get a direct flight now. I am just so upset. I cant believe they can do this. These are not the tickets I wanted and would not of bought. I have been stewing and worrying about this since I talked to Delta 2 weeks ago. I still have not called them back. I just dont even know what to say to them. Sorry to vent but that felt really good!!!!

Sorry about the change in your flights. I know how aggravating it is. We have had this happen to us several times on other airlines too. I always try to do the direct flights, they are so much easier. You should call back and speak to a supervisor. They still have a direct flight for that day leaving Orlando at 3:10pm tell them that you feel you should be placed on that flight. I sure hope they are able to accomodate you:)

This happened to us on our last trip, last November. It wasn't Delta, I can't remember what airline. At the time my girls were 4 and 12 months. I booked direct flights, even paid a bit more I think. A few week before our trip they changed everything but the date we flew. I was livid, but they would not do a single thing about it.

On our flight home we had to leave 3 hours earlier than planned and still got home almost 2 hours later than we had planned. It totally sucked.

I am so sorry they did that to you!

Thank you for your reply. I should not of put Columbus though. We are leaving and will be returning to Akron. I have no idea why I put Columbus mabie its getting late. Did the airlines ever do anything for you for the incovienence when changing your flights?

We were given a 50 voucher once , prior to Sept 11th. Really nothing since then. I get discouraged sometimes with the changes they make, but I know that they also make them to stay profitable. There are quite a few Delta flights that were non stop out of Louisville that have been discontinued.

I think the travel getting to and from on planes is just an added stress level, but I wouldn't do it any other way. I can't imagine traveling in a car anymore for 14-16 hour drive.

I looked at your Akron and they must have discontinued their direct flight--I know that doesn't make you feel any better. But I would call and speak to a supervisor, perhaps they would offer the vouchers for an extended period for you. I know it is aggravating, I always make our reservations at the first opportunity 330 days out and I get aggravated at the changes to:)

I feel your pain. US airlines, most of them anyhow, are the pits. Good luck

Yes, call back and ask for a supervisor. This happened to us and when my DD called she was told that they would refund our money if the new flight arrangements were not acceptable. I spoke to a supervisor and explained that transfers were not going to work and got a direct flight.

This happened to us on our upcoming December trip - they cancelled the direct flight the night we were going. Our 1.5 hour flight would turn into a 3-4 hour trip - we weren't looking forward to it with a 1 year old.

We were frustrated but then we called them and got switched to the direct flight the night before with no hassle. We will have to pay for another night at Pop but it was worth it to us.

Not that it's really going to help you now but Delta is famous for this. I haven't had a single flight with Delta since 9/11 that hasn't been changed. We fly 5-6 times a year so this was getting pretty annoying. We started flying Jet Blue. I haven't had a single changed flight. Plus I like that if Jet Blue's prices go down after you buy your ticket, they will credit you the difference. I am flying from Boston to San Fran next month on my Jet Blue credits.

Wow I did not know that about Jet Blue. That is great to know. I also heard dont know if it is true. But there is no charge if you need to change you reservations for Jet BLue.

Ok now I am even more angry. I just called Delta to tell them I would like to get the 50.00 vouchers they offered me. He told me they cannot give me the vouchers. I argued with him and did not get anywhere. So I than asked for a supervisor so he put his supervisor on the phone. The supervisor insistead that he cant give me vouchers. Then I asked how come I was already offered them. He said that was a mistake that they should not of offered me the vouchers. Even though I know the girl asked the supervisor. Now I am just so angry wih them. have had nothing but problems with Delta this time First they charged me for 5 tickets I as supposed to be charged 4. That was a mess to get cleared up ad took forever to get my money back. Then they changed my reservations and then tell me they would do one thing and then not honor it.

We just got off the phone with Delta, because they do not have the direct flights to/from Dayton to MCO any more! What a disappointment. No compensation, just flights back with layovers. Air Tran it will be from now on!

Denyel, I am sorry that the Delta supervisor wasn't cooperative. I would try calling back and trying again ( you may want to wait until shift change), if you are told the same thing, keep working your way up. Try to calmly explain your situation and what you were told prior. Our last family trip, I had flights changed that caused me to have to reschedule connecting flights with different airlines. The first time I called they told me it would $75 each to change (3 people x 2 flights OUCH!) I called back the next day and the person assisting me, did the changes for no charge.

Have you tried calling Air Tran and seeing how much it would cost to make your flights round trip?

If you can't resolve this, please don't let this put a damper on your trip. Enjoy your time at WDW and don't let the trip home ruin your vacation. Sometimes things that we have no control over happen.:)

Just to let you know, AirTran is FAMOUS for canceling and changing flight times. In fact, the only time I have ever had a canceled/changed flight were for both of the round trips I booked with them...and I fly every other week (Usually on JetBlue or Southwest though).

yep we traveled and paid for 10 tickets and delta changed our flight to a much earlier flight and we lost out on a whole day in the parks, and they didn't have the courtesy to let us know we found this 1 week before we left when we received our package. they would not help us only if we wanted to have a 2-3 hour layover which we paid for non stop so i will never fly with delta again thats for sure not after reading this, we still made the best of the time we had there and already booked for next year but added a few extra days so this won't happen again have a magical time there:cool1: :cool1:

They did the same thing to me!! I was furious, I booked a non stop I am flying with a 4yo and a 1yo. They changed my flights 3 times since I booked. The last change was the straw that broke the camel's back they took away BOTH of my direct fights. I was STEAMING!! I could have gotten SW a little while back but they waited until all of the sales passed before they made the changes. I had my husband call and I told him I wanted direct flights PERIOD! Well they did away with all of the direct fights from the airport I was booked at (Norfolk) so they moved us to a non stop in Richmond which is actually better for us. I am so thankful, but I know how you must feel that is terrible! They should have some sort of responsiblilty!

Oct 2006, I had a flight with Delta to Orlando and the times were changed from am flight to later in the day. I happened to find out by looking at my flight online, just to see how booked up it was. I called Delta and said the later flight wasn't going to be acceptable, we had something that we needed to be at in the am and would miss it if we took a later flight (the parks!). They switched me to a flight the day before without any extra charge or any hassle. I had just found out my son had an extra day off from school in the time we'd be at Disney and wanted to add a day to our trip anyway. It worked out well for us. I'm so sorry to hear of your hassle. I really will think twice when we book for Oct 2008, possibly JetBlue.

Again...stick with JetBlue. Delta always does this. I've only flown AirTran once but have a friend who is a flight attendent for them and she has let me know that they change flight times frequently.

Someone asked if JetBlue has change fees. They do but the fee is minimal if you make the changes online.

Several years ago on a return trip from WDW with DD, we got bumped in a connecting Delta flight through Cincinnati and as compensation since it was overnight we each got two ticket vouchers plus a hotel and 2 meals. Pretty good, but they don't do THAT any more.

Delta did that to us on our last trip, but I called and took the first flight of the day (to get down there). That was great. I was expecting it to be a bigger hassle. However, I was flying Delta for Thanksgiving and they wanted to bump me and my 5 month old from the flight because we were "local" and could take a later flight! Talk about steaming!!! I got on, but I was peeved.
