Well, I just had to use Dell's Tech Support & they get thumbs up from me.
We've had our computer for 6 months with NO problems. Nothing. I used it yesterday -- did my usual websites & stuff. Left the room for a few hours & returned to find an unfamiliar blue screen. (Windows XP Professional -- so it's NOT the blue screen of death). Since XP is new to me, I didn't know what to do. Followed directions on screen, but to no avail, computer would NOT re-boot. Kept saying Unmountable Boot Volume. ????
Well, MY TECH SUPPORT (hubby) is away for 2 weeks (military). He happened to call. He couldn't fix it via phone since XP is new to him too & he's never seen this problem.
He told me I would have to call Tech Support. I started crying. LOL I hate being military wife & having to deal with stuff. Stuff only breaks when he's away.
Well, I couldn't live without computer for 2 wks. No DIS? And this is how he & I keep in touch.
Well, I got up the courage after work to call. I had my beverage & snack ready since I thought I would be on hold forever. They answered right away. I had all my CD's & info ready. Knew how to explain what had happened & what I had done BEFORE it went down. Well, within 30 minutes I was off the phone. And within 1.5 hrs (TOTAL) my computer is working again. Most of that time was waiting for computer to finish running thru what it was doing.
THANK YOU DELL !!!!!!!!! He was so nice & very patient. I never had to do this before.
Not sure what was exactly wrong, but it's WORKING!!!!
