i tried and tried and tried to use the coupon code listed on a few sites for a Canon a620 for my daughter and sil and never did get it to go through( the big sports at dell said they'd give me 15% off instead of the 25% the coupon was worth which another dell rep. said was good for that camera and still available since i spent the day trying to get it to work & were going to charge me $20 in tax (roughly 15%...shipping was "free" but sales tax was double hmmmm. where are they? our sales tax is 7%??)...i said no thanks and went to butterfly photo but am wondering is Dell a problem usually or was it just today? they seem to have some good deals but not if they are such a pain to get.

Forget Dell...

Looks like they've started collecting sales tax on orders - and their 25% coupon was expired so they offerred you a 15% off alternative? That seems reasonable even though it is not enough.

Try B&H - I don't recall paying sales tax there. However they will charge you for shipping and it is a stright up purchase there. :confused3

I've often found the best prices -- with no tax and free shipping -- at www.buydig.com. They've always been a pleasure to deal with. And very fast. I usually get something just three or four days after I order it.

nope the coupon was good till 5/31 and it hadn't reached the 2000 use cut off mark either but they couldn't get it to work for that camera( which was one listed for that coupon) so they didn't honor the coupon even though it was still listed on the site and they told me it was still good :confused3 so not all that reasonable to me ...more like "we can't figure out how to get this to work so for your trouble of bringing this to our attention and trying to buy something from us we'll subtract 10% from what you were promised" :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I used the coupon code from Techbargains with no problem for a Rebel with kit lens(it wouldn't take for body only)20% off, got another coupon off ebay for $35 off 300 and stack that on also. Free shipping and no sales tax (i'm in MA) The only problem is Dell showed "in stock" when I ordered but now my confirmation email shows "back ordered, will ship June 1) which is OK since I'm waiting for lenses from Signma4less.

i would have gotten the free shipping but why no sales tax for you and 15%( twice our usual ) for me??? even after the sales person added the 15% off coupon, the sales tax was $20 which i couldn't understand, like the shipping was free but they made up for it in tax...maybe the site was weird yesterday...the coupon i was using was from techbargain also so i'm glad to know it was the sales people/site rather than the coupon wasnt' any good

If there is a Dell store in your state then they charge the sales tax. Even if it's just a kiosk in a mall.

ok that would explain it and uhhh you can blame my husband ..it was 7%, yesterday when i was telling him about it he said "that's 20%!" and i never thought twice about it till i just typed $20 and thought "wait that isn't 20%"... oh brother!...we win the "dim bulb award for the day :lmao:

but i am 100% accurate about the coupon caused i checked that with every sales rep i talked to:rotfl2:
