Ok, this will be a long shot but we have a Dell 922 All in One Printer (scanner/fax) and I can't get the scanner to work because the All in One Center that runs the program isn't showing up on my computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, downloaded various patches, etc. I have spent about 2 days trying to search the Dell site for answers and I can't find anything. We have it installed on a Dell laptop (Latitude D600) with Vista. Any ideas? It will print just fine there just is no way to open the control panel (so to speak) to run the rest of the programs. The solution center for troubleshooting, etc. comes up just fine.

Did this work before and just stop working or did you install this on a new system (Vista)?

We had the printer installed on our desktop, a Dell Dimension 3000 (I think) and it worked fine up until about 3 months ago and it wouldn't do anything on that computer, print, scan, nothing. I did the Dell troubleshooting and basically came down to needing to reinstall the operating system on that computer (XP) so I didn't do that. Instead I tried installing it on the laptop and the print feature works fine, just nothing else. I don't know if it is because the printer is 5 years old and it is just time for something new or if I am missing something or what.

I installed our other printer on the desktop and that works fine but it is just a printer (Cannon) and nothing else.

Have you tried to do a System Restore with the last date of the printer working properly?

You won't loose any personal files if you do that.

I did a system restore but the printer has never worked properly on the Laptop and on the desktop it didn't have a restore point to use :confused3. I tried it but I got a pop up that there wasn't a restore point (guessing it is too old?).

Restore point should be created every time you turn the PC ON.

It may be turned OFF (bad idea). Now, did you or someone turn it off? Sometimes Malware or Virus shuts down security services (Windows Updates, Antivirus software, etc.) , have you scanned the PC for any of those?

Looks like fresh install would help you with more then just this issue…

And your laptop, is the printer driver compatible with your windows?

It says it is. I think I might just need a new printer???

Is the program that you are trying to install compatible with your version of Vista? Vista is/was available in both 32 and 64 bit, make sure you are trying to install the correct program for the version that you are running on the laptop

Not a big fan of Dell printers. This one is made by Lexmark.

More like driver conflict, have you install any new devices or programs right before the printer problems?

You know, your hard Drive may be going bad too if it's none of those...
