I need to print something out for my taxes ASAP. I have no black ink left. Can I use a different brand ink cartridge other than Dell's?

I know at work I have 1 dell printer & I have to use a Dell Cartridge. Have you shaken it?

Yeah. The Dell "free printer" deal is pretty much just a scam to drive sales of their printer cartridges. You have to use the Dell ones and they are available only from Dell, of course. You may be able to get your existing cartridge refilled somewhere locally, which you could get done today instead of waiting for a shipment from Dell that wouldn't make it by 4/17 anyway. All of our local Walgreen's stores claim to be able to refill all brands of inkjet cartridges as do places like Island Inkjet (I think that's right). Check your local Walgreens (if you have them) or the yellow pages.

If you've got a Staples near by, check there, they've been advertising ink for Dell printers on their commercials and it's available on their website too.

Do you have color ink? I have a Dell printer and when I ran out of black ink, it gave me an option of using color to print black... it uses up your color ink very quickly, but if you only have to print a few pages or something, it works until you can get another black cartridge. I think I had to use it to print out a paper that was due the next day.

Our cartridges from Dell are less expensive then our old HP ones that you could get anywhere. It is a pain to have to order them but they come quickly.

Like a previous poster mentioned, Staples is always advertising that they sell Dell cartridges. I'd check them out.

We have a local store here that sells Dell computers and printers so I don't have to order it online. Maybe just check any of your local computer stores and see if they sell some.

The "free printer" is such a scam. I got it with my computer and yes it works...but I find it really cheap, quality wise. It was free though so I use it!
