The deli used to charge $5.99/pound for turkey and roast beef. I thought that was high enough, and still never bought any unless they had it on sale a bit cheaper. This morning I was going through the weekly store ad and those prices are now up to $7.99/pound. Does anyone really buy it when it's that high priced? :confused3 Wow.

$7.99 is the sale price for name brand deli meats like Boarshead. The regular prices are about $8.99 to $9.99.
I have been trying more store brand meats due to the prices, some are good and some I'd rather pay the higher price for.
Although its hard to spend $10 on roast beef at the time, I still save money by making lunches with it as opposed to buying the school lunches.

Yes. :) For name brand roast beef, that's a good price. ;)

I haven't seen $5.99/lb deli meat in awhile. Even our storebrands in this area run about $7.99. I prefer Boars Head so I almost always pay $9.99/lb but it's worth it.

I pay $9.99/lb for real turkey breast from the Deli. The cheap stuff is slimy. I haven't bought good turkey breast for $5.99/lb in about 10 years.

Same is true for roast beef. Even the ham we buy is $8.99/lb.

Good quality deli meats, like Boar's Head, cost but you get what you pay for in deli meat.

Yes. When I figure that we get 5 or 6 sandwiches (usually 6) out of a pound of deli meat, it's still cheaper than buying a sandwich elsewhere. It even works out less than a fast food sandwich.

Granted, around here, the store brand (Publix) is really good, so I'll get that instead.

Around me, the sale price on deli turkey or ham (the cheap, store brand) has been about $5 - $6 per pound for the last few years. The regular price is about $7 per pound. Boars Head goes on sale for about $7 or $8 per pound for the poultry - chix or turkey. I don't buy deli meats often b/c they are generally high in sodium, but when I do I don't think these prices are so bad.
The crummy pre-package meats from OM or Hillshire Farms usually comes out to about $6.50 or so by me, so when I am going to eat those kinds of things, I'd rather spend a little more for something much tastier.

It's the same prices by me. It still less expensive then buying a sandwich - the deli by my job recently increased their sandwich prices too.

They are higher than that here in CT. At Stop&Shop, American cheese is now $6.29 Store brand Roast Beef is over $8 and many of the Boars Head products are $9.99/lb.

I buy most of my coldcuts at BJs these days. Land Of Lakes American Cheese is still only $3.49/lb there, and most of the other things are in the $5.99 to $6.99 range. Walmart also has ham for under $5 lb, but their cheese is over $6.

Yes, I've noticed that the price of deli meat is going up...along with everything else. :sad2:

I haven't seen anything for $5.99 a pound in years. I usually buy Boars Head which runs $10-$12 per pound. I will buy store brand roast beef but even that is $11 per pound.

I think the organic deli meats we bought this weekend were around $12.99 a pound. We rarely by deli meat, but it's for a specific recipe.

Deli meat's bad for you, anyway. All that sodium.

Everything is bad for you. :lmao:

DH is a farmer and during planting season (now) and harvest in the fall he prefers sandwiches for lunch and dinner when he's driving a tractor, truck or combine. It's difficult to keep coming up with "new" types. He can eat just so much chicken salad, tuna or egg salad. So I do buy deli meats for his sandwiches sometimes.

I refuse to buy deli meat at the grocery store. I go to a locally owned deli that carries Boars Head and Thumans- it is cheaper than Stop and Shop and they also have 'in store baked' turkey and ham for $8.79/lb. Land of Lakes American Cheese is $3.49 a pound (was $2.99/lb.) Milk is $2.59/gal for 1%. They just opened a butcher shop- ground beef is $3.49/lb and boneless chicken breast is $2.49 a pound.

Not if you buy the good stuff that is low in sodium or better yet the store roasted turkey breast that our Deli makes. I has very little salt and tastes like Thanksgiving Day turkey.

I buy an all natural tueky breast at the deli for $9.99 lb. Like others have said, still cheaper than buying sandwiches.

I do not mind spending the money for good quality lunch meat. I also like to roast a small chicken every once in a while to slice up just for sandwiches.
