Deleting a person from reservation

First off, I have never had to delete a person from our Disney reservation on any past trips. We are booked for 2024 and our 17 year old son is not interested in going. Is it as simple as deleting him from the reservation and the price of the trip is recalculated? Or do I need to cancel the entire reservation and rebook the trip? If I need to cancel and rebook, I'd want to do that now in case there are price increases coming. If I can just cancel him from the reservation, I may wait in case he changes his mind. Thank you.

Similar experience to offer. My oldest daughter's boyfriend had to cancel out at the last minute for good reasons. Had to drop him from the reservation (room, tickets, etc.) and replace with another friend.

I tried to do it online and via the app but couldn't or wasn't smart enough to figure it out. Tried to call but the wait was forever.

What did work was messaging through the Disney app. Customer service was quick, made all the changes, etc. But no you do not need to cancel the reservation and I'd recommend you don't cancel your reservation. Switching out the person was easy. They even could have parked the person to the side saving the ticket for a future visit that anyone can use.

I would think if you aren’t already paid off , you can just call and modify the reservation. Since he is 17 , you aren’t paying extra for him in the room, just his ticket cost.

I think you should definitely consider your final statement and wait until final payment is due to remove him from the reservation. I think you are right, he might change his mind once it gets much closer to being time to go.

I’d wait until you really know he’s not coming. Those older teens seems to like to say they don’t want to go to Disney, until the reality of the family taking the trip without them hits. Then suddenly, they want to go……
