If you have a positive attitude you will have fun. You just have to choose whether you can accept the schedule or not.

You have a choice of just going with the flow and make the best of it or come back another time.

I would hate that you can't experience DL for the amazing place that it is because of the negativity. If you can't come back another time then just make the best of it but you have to go in with a positive attitude and you will have fun.

The reason fireworks were listed every night before your trip was because of Spring Break. The fireworks haven't been every night for years now. There is SO much more to do than those couple of rides closed down. Soarin' and Matterhorn have been closed for months and listed on the scheduled refurbishment list until May since they closed. Sorry you don't feel like this would be a magical trip, but next time you might want to do a little more actual research when it comes to planning because I honestly don't see how you planned, but didn't know those two rides would not be open until May (it's on the DL schedule as closed until May)

Also, no matter what hotel you book there will be some loud kids every now and then. It IS the Disneyland resort. It's full of kids.

Yeah! Darn brats be needin to go to bed early. Lol A little rum in their zippy ;) cup really can go a long way man!

:faint:

P.S. Nothin magical about people that are screaming or crying. Ugh!

Sorry you are so disappointed OP. It's the tradeoff you make between low crowds and a full lineup of entertainment. Anaheim is very different from WDW in that it is in a pretty densely populated area. They have considerations regarding fireworks that Orlando does not.

Yeah, it's disappointing. But visiting on a low crowd day certainly has its advantages. There's SO much to do you won't even miss what's not there.

Honestly, if I had my choice between a high crowd weekend day with fireworks and a low crowd Monday without fireworks...... I'd go with Monday every time. And I love Disney fireworks.

To be honest, I don't find the current fireworks show ("Fantasy in the Sky") to be that spectacular. These fireworks only last 3:45m, unlike the real fireworks spectaculars which go for over 10 minutes. For one day, there is still plenty to do there. Since you're there, why not just go in and spend the day? I would. Go and see some of the shows - especially Frozen at the Royal Theatre :-)

This sounds a lot like National Lampoons Vacation!!!

I think everyone is giving this person a hard time. What's done is done -- they are there and facing the decision. "Go back and look at the calendar before your trip" isn't really valid advice.

I say stick around and make the most of the trip. So you can't see the fireworks... Make your own fireworks! Spend the time you'd spend staking out a good spot going to Napa Rose or Steakhouse 55 enjoying a good meal. So, some of the rides are down... Ride something you normally wouldn't... And ride it twice! Find the magic in your least favorite ride. OR, do every iteration of Star Tours. Or go pilot the Mark Twain.

Yes, it sucks when things are closed that you want to do, but don't let it ruin your trip. Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, but even there, you have to be willing to enjoy yourself to make the trip happy.

Have fun! Be safe! Say hi to Mickey for me!

I, too, thought that the post was about the DLH. :o Sorry that the Park Vue wasn't to your liking! Many motels around Anaheim have a lot of children...as WDW hotels do, too! Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some.

DL does have so much to do that you couldn't do it all in just one day! But if you had your heart set on going on those rides that are unavailable and it will totally ruin your day and you've decided that you hate DL as a result, then maybe going back to Hollywood for the day might be a better option.

I'm sorry that you're not having a good time. but you don't have to call people rude names in the process.

:scared:

Same here, as we are staying at Disneyland Hotel in 3 weeks I started to freak thinking what's wrong with it?

I wouldn't worry about missing the fireworks.......the current fireworks show is only about 4 minutes and isn't as good at the regular show which won't return until the 60th next month.

I agree with the OP and go see WoC at DCA if you can. It's a way better show than the fireworks. it's my favorite night time show at DCL or WDW.

Agreed that the current fireworks are nothing special. Over and done with in 5 minutes. Still plenty to do. DCA with Paradise Pier and Carsland are like no other Disney themed areas. Hop on Pirates and have a good attitude! Heck, you are at Disney and we are all stuck behind a desk! Enjoy!

There are more rides at DLR's 2 parks than at all WDW parks combined. You will find plenty to do, even with the ride closures. DLR is different than WDW, but it does have its own charm. DL is not the primary reason we visit SoCal, but we always try to go for a couple of days while we're in the area.

No, don't skip it! You would later regret it if you did, being RIGHT THERE and not going into the parks. If you think DLR will disappoint you (even though I don't think it would), why not save a little money and just get a one day ticket and do DCA instead? You can't miss Carsland, even if you're not a fan of the movie, you will love RSR and Maters is fun too! Definitely grab a FP for WOC, ride Screamin', Grizzly, go see the Aladdin show (amazing), then go sit back and relax at the Cove Bar with a mojito and lobster nachos! Sounds like a great day to me!!

P.S. Don't forget the single rider lines for RSR, Screamin, and GRR. Have fun!

Well whatever you decided to do I hope you have a fabulous day doing it! Being disappointed is never an enjoyable feeling. I hope after a good night sleep things look better!

My opinion is do the parks for 1 day, get a park hopper, Carsland is amazing :)

Have a magical time!

Wow - tough crowd. Lots of uncalled-for comments. Sometimes you get locked into the timing of your trip by other circumstances - it's unfair to criticize the OP because she has expressed disappointment.

I get the sense that the hotel is what really put her over the edge. Considering the prime real estate that hotel has, you'd think they could class up the place just a little....but it sells itself with the location.

OP - Park Hopper upgrade suggestion is spot on....there is so much to see between the two parks despite the closures. Or, just choose California Adventure, which is very different from anything at WDW.

Maddle

Please don't skip it!! Go have a nice WOC lunch and cocktails at Carthay circle. Then stop off at the Thayer for the Aladdin show. Then maybe pop over to Disneyland and hit space mountain ! There's so much magic to behold. Sidebar, there is the BEST bbq in west Hollywood on Santa Monica Blvd, just west of Fairfax, called baby blues bbq. Owned by Texans. Then a few doors down, you can get dole whips , that shop is next to the Starbucks. What ever you do, I hope you have a great time!

Please don't skip it. Mondays-Thursday should be best crowd level days. Upgrade to hopper and go see woc.
As I have heard the Fire work show right now sucks. Only 5 mins or shorter. Go to the parks and have some fun.
All hotels around there will have the screaming kids that is just something you have to deal with. Also next time do try and plan around the park. Weekends may be crowded but only weekends have full entertainment.
Plan 3-5 days next time and make two of them weekend days so you have the crowds for full entertainment but also three days of low crowds. That's my best advice.

For a 1 day trip I would have just staying in the WeHo hotel and driven down. Many APs live farther out and still just go for the day. If you already have the ticket, go back on Friday when there will be fireworks. Or go to the park today and watch the fireworks for DTD on Friday. I agree with PPs. If something was a make or break, I would have researched it instead of just assuming.
