No, after you come back from Universal then let us know if you were disapointed. I haven't really seen anyone say it was a bad experience.

Did you go see the Harry Potter Travelling Exhibition? WOULD you go see it?

We did, and boiled down to its bare bones I suppose it was nothing more than some props arranged nicely in a room in a museum. But, you know what? It was an incredible experience! Magical, even. :wizard:

I figure if the Exhibition was this good, just imagine how awesome it'll be to actually see everything in its proper place - in shop windows and in Hogwarts classrooms, instead of on tables! And the rides - rethemed or new, doesn't matter to me as I've never been to Universal before - are just icing on the cake.

Nope, I'm not concerned at all. I know I'm going to have a great vacation. I think you're just borrowing trouble and worrying over nothing, especially since you already know you love Universal.

I don't think you should be concerned, but I agree with your points about the overhype and I think if you can you should try to readjust your expectations so you won't be so disappointed. I'm going in August and I'm really excited to see WWoHP, but I'm fully prepared for it to to be smaller than I would have hoped (which is inevitable considering the years I spent wishing I lived in the HP universe when I was younger!), a hundred times busier than I would like and not as amazing as it's been billed. I think it's probably better to think of it as what it is, as one land (albeit an awesome exciting new land) in the IoA, which will be interesting and fun but not something to plan your whole day around or set your whole hopes for your holiday on. Does that make sense?

I haven't been yet. Will be going in Sept. But I can tell you that I will let you know what we thought after that...Try going first and then let us know how you like it. Right now it seems like alot of hot air being blown around though. :confused3

:thumbsup2 i am sure in the weeks and months to come there will be a lot of........... "thats it?????"........:confused3....and although there will be a spike in attendance it wont be completely front loaded. getting to orlando is not the same as going down to the local cinema.

Believe me, it deserves all the hype. I really don't think anyone will be disappointed. Just walking through the queue is absolutely amazing.

You guys- just walking through Hogsmead is an experience in itself. It is the books come to life. Everything that you have imagined while reading the books is right there in front of you- the shop windows are everything you could possibly hope they could be and more. The Three Broomsticks is like, well, THE THREE BROOMSTICKS. There are tables and props and moving shadows to watch for, owls occasionally flying up near the ceiling, the snorting Hogs Head, TONS of picture taking opportunities everywhere you look. The FJ, even if it was the only ride there, would make it worth the trip, especially combined with Hogsmead. The only things that could make it better is to make it all bigger so more people could fit comfortably, and have the Hogwarts Express a moving train. It really puts you into the books. The frog choir, the attendants who will tell you they were sorted by the sorting hat into houses, Durmstrang and Beaubatons (missed that, wished I saw that show) doing their thing, HONEYDUKES.... I could go on forever. You will NOT be disappointed unless you go there planning on being disappointed, because you WILL be in Hogwarts and Hogsmead!

I have not gone yet, but I do agree with OP that it isn't a park within a park, but another land to explore. Yes, there are some new things there but there are also 2 rides that were there prior to HP, just the names & theming have been changed. To me, that isn't a park within a park. :goodvibes again, that is just my opinion & everyone here is entitled to their own...:goodvibes

I went again the other day just to see things a second time and I easily got bored after a couple hours.

I think a lot of people are deffinetly over hyping it

sure the place is cool but it's nothing to excited about

All I'm interested in is the one ride. Could care less about Hary Potter but if FJ is better than Spiderman HP will be my new BFF :)

of course you got bored after a few hours..its just one land of an entire theme park. its doesn't have a ton of stuff to do there to plan an entire day in just wwohp. people who are going there and expecting to spend 8 hours in just wwohp will be disappointed. I think they should get rid of Sinbad and Poseidon's Fury and replace them with HP related shows so there's more to do. I've seen both of those attractions once and don't care to see them again.

I don't think you'll be disappointed..Just walk around..go to the Olivader's shop, the frog choir, and other performance..I've ridden the Flying Unicorn a ton of times but riding it again with the different theme really changed the experience for me. seeing Hagrids hut, the view of the castle and hogsmeade going up the lift was amazing.

OP there are enough reviews out now that you know already exactly what you are in for. I suppose whether or not you "should be concerned" depends on whether or not those reviews are describing things you want to see or not.

*shrugs* :confused3

Personally, I hope lots and lots of negative people decide to give it a pass for awhile. Shorter lines for me! WHoot!

It's interesting to see the differing opinions when you are there. I went solo today as hubby is out of town and had lunch at Three Broomsticks, plus spent time sitting on benches drinking butterbeer. I lost count of the bitter fights within multiple families where some members were fascinated and wanted to stay in WWoHP longer while the others were whining and crying that it was boring and they had enough and just wanted to go do something else (one kid said even the hotel was preferable!). I guess it's all in your taste. Myself, I could just sit there and soak up the ambiance (and watch the family battles) all day.

I admit that it sounds smaller than what I expected. I keep in mind that many areas and parks start out small and gradually grow over time though. I also have heard enough to know that I'll love the atmosphere along with the theming. Atmosphere is very important to me.

As for those complaining that they're bored, I immediately thought about World Showcase. I wonder how many of those complaining about being bored were being drug through shops when they aren't shoppers? DS will do this but I'll just tell him to be patient and shush. ;)

Most of the people over hyping it right now are huge Harry Potter fans. It is a great looking "land" and Forbidden journey is a fantastic ride(as long as you fit). Most people will spend a few hours and then move on to another island. I do think alot of regular people will be lost if they don't know anything about HP. As long as you go expecting a new island then you will enjoy yourself.
