well, that depends on what you define as "the norm" heh.Originally posted by addie
I imagine the rude posts directed at renters are not the norm.
I want my family to experience the be our guest feeling that Disney is famous for.
I'd agree with this, and then it's not just renting points, but those who seem to do it constantly as a private business, tying up double reservation times for one rental period. I only say that to let you know that it's directed at a pretty specific group, not renters in general. Rent some points, try out DVC and have a great vacation.Originally posted by Michelemouse
I don't think the posts are directed at renters but rather at members who rent out their points.

Hey, didn't you start that other...uh, never mind!I agree completely, I think that dope that started that 'other' thread should have been more clear.
Just don't hang your undies out on the balcony to dry or leave your trash in the hallway & no one will ever know your a RENTER

Reading the last "renters are hurting us" post has me a little nervous. I am ready to put down $2,000 on a 2-bedroom villa for a dream vacation for my family.
We are so excited, however my family has gone through some hard times lately and I don't want to take them to a place where they feel like they don't belong and people are snobs to them because they are not "part of the family," or real "DVC owners."
I would like to hear from renters and what your experiences have been. I imagine the rude posts directed at renters are not the norm.
I just don't see what the big deal is? We want to rent and try before we buy. But we don't want to be as treated second-class or even worse "leaches" throughout our trip.
I want my family to experience the be our guest feeling that Disney is famous for.
What were your experiences?
If you want a Disney example just look at the silly "concierge level" rooms in regular Disney resorts, where people pay ridiculously higher room rates for some "free" beer and cold cuts, but mostly so they can feel special and be on a level restricted to others.

Undies???? You mean........members are supposed to wear undies now? Is that in the purchase agreement somewhere? How did I not know this???? I better read the paperwork more carefully.
FYI: Going "commando" at WDW means rushing from ride-to-ride, park-to-park.
