I loved both of their drawings of Donald - awesome!
I have no trips planned, how sad is that statement....:sad1:

VERY sad.. But I'm kinda with you in that right now.

Cute update! I love the giraffe crossing the road! We've never had to stop for an animal, but I would love that!!

If your White Chocolate Elephant cupcake is anything like the Starring Rolls cupcakes, I can totally understand why you didn't find it as tasty as you might have hoped! I think my biggest problem was that they were cold?!? I think that makes them harder and less moist. I'm sure I'll have to try them again if we are ever there on a warm day because I chalked my disappointment up to the fact that I was eating a cold cupcake outside on a freezing cold day!!!

It was definitely cold! That's something I hadn't thought about, and you're so right. It wasn't moist and didn't have much flavor to the chocolate at all. Maybe I should take some of the blame off that coconut!

Poor Blake, he looks cold sitting in the stroller. It always seems sad when Florida is cold.

Or rainy! The weather here has been terrible the last few days! :sad1: It was cold that day, but not that terribly bad. We skipped gloves this day anyway. It warmed up as the day went on. :)

Camp time!

Poor Donald..

Our goal was to catch the next Festival of the Lion King show! Along the way we spotted a character with almost no line. The boys wanted to stop and say hi.. And get autographs!

We’d never been into the autograph side of character meetings before. As Andrew saw more and more children with those little blue books, he made it clear that he’d like one, too. Santa supported his desire and slipped a book in each of their stockings for Christmas. They were thrilled!

Unfortunately, as we were new to the world of signature collecting, no one remembered them that morning. Next time! The boys weren't upset at all over it. They knew there would be more chances to work on them.

Meeko time!

CIMG5759.jpg

On to the show! We were in the giraffe section this time. That was a lot of fun. With the exception of our very first time(wart hogs), we always seem to end up with the lions. While being somewhere new was interesting, the lion section is the best!

CIMG5768.jpg

I never take pictures in here, as they don’t turn out well for me. Andrew had different plans. With his new camera, he intended to catch as many pictures and bits of video as he could! While his pictures weren’t the greatest, he did an awesome job on video. As he was switching back and forth, one of the performers noticed what he was doing and got his attention. She is "The Gift" in the introductions, but I don't remember what he actual name is now. She smiled and motioned for him to take a picture! He tried to snap one, but it didn’t go all that well. It was still pretty nifty that she tried to set that up for him!

100_0292_001.jpg

Andrew’s favorite part this day was the birds. Blake is definitely a monkey fan. I will admit to being a little disappointed in some of the singing. One of them just didn’t seem all that confident in what she was doing and cut quite a bit of the notes short. We still enjoyed it!

Moving away from the chaos that the end of this show always creates, we stumbled into another character line. This time we had a bit more of a wait, but we were about to see Pocahontas!

CIMG5772.jpg

Andrew entertaining himself (and me!) in line!

CIMG57801.jpg

Pocahontas was fun, but our visit was a little wild. We were at the very end of the line, with no one allowed in behind. A family near us wasn’t happy with being turned away, so they decided to join in! A little girl was urged to run up beside the boys, while her parents filmed it all. How nuts! The CM that told them the line was closed didn’t attempt to step in at all and stop this. It definitely rates as oddest character meeting with other guests we’ve had!

In a character mood with time to kill before lunch, we made a logical choice. We were in AK and there was someone here we couldn’t skip meeting. We were on to the Discovery Island Character Landing to see Eeyore! Blake was so excited!!

CIMG5790.jpg

CIMG5793.jpg

We had a bit of a wait, but it wasn’t terribly bad. Andrew took his camera out again to take more pictures. Chances are, if you were in line ahead of us that day, I had to delete a picture of you. ;) While giving him his camera in lines has been an excellent way to keep him entertained, it wasn’t uncommon to hear me asking him not to take pictures of strangers back then. He’s learning!

CIMG5803.jpg

First up! Pooh bear!!

CIMG5808.jpg

Blake’s buddy! I love this one.

CIMG58121.jpg

& Tigger!!

CIMG5823.jpg

It was a fun little stop to see our friends, and helped out another goal of mine. As we were now planning to purchase the photopass cd, I was determined to get as many pictures as I could before the last day to order!

Now it was time for lunch! We headed to the front of the park for a brand new adventure..

CIMG5825.jpg

LOVE LOVE LOVE the pic of Blake and Eyore!! They even match! I think that one needs to be printed, framed and put in his room! :thumbsup2

I also love seeing Andrew's pictures! It's so fun to see things from a kids viewpoint.

That's exactly what we did with it. ;) I tried so hard to get a decent picture of them together during the last AP year, but this was the first that I absolutely LOVED. It was adorable that he was in the right color for it, too.

I agree about the Eeyore picture...adorable! The boys must be excited for the new Winnie the Pooh movie!!

Soo.....I've pretty much given up on catching up on your TR. This past week has been so busy with McKenna's birthday & party. And we've had house guests and trying to get things ready for the baby...so I am just going to try to keep up from this point!

I absolutely love all of Andrew's camera pictures. That might be an idea for Aryanna for Christmas/her birthday this year. I have no ideas for either of the girls yet. Usually I have a handful of stuff that I know they would like, but even for McKenna's birthday this year I couldnt think of anything. The only thing she wanted was candles for her cake and a hula hoop.

I think the picture of Eeyore & Blake is the most adorable thing ever! He (Blake) is soo cute! I wish we lived closer, the girls saw the boys' pictures while I was reading and started asking about them.

That cupcake doesn't even look good to me...and I love chocolate & coconut!!! (Could be partially to blame on the fact that I have WAY too many left over cupcakes in my fridge right now though!)

They are! I can't wait to see it either!

Doesn't Aryanna have a camera? Maybe just a kid one though, huh? I think it would be perfect for her. I'm sure she'd love taking pics of the new little guy, too! I'm with you on being lost over Christmas gifts. I don't even want to think about it right now!

Cute that the girls asked about them. Andrew still mentions you when we get in line for Soarin' sometimes. Your move will have you forever connected to that ride, ya know! :rotfl: He wants to go to DL so bad!

Rainforest Café turned out to be a very educational experience. For one, we finally saw this mysterious “secret” entrance to AK. I have to admit I wasn’t all that impressed. I once read a posting about how amazingly awesome and wonderful it is to sneak in this way. “You beat all the crowds!” I don’t see it.

The next exciting discovery was seeing that the rainforest is made up of giant mushrooms. I wasn’t expecting this, but I liked it. It felt like we’d walked into the world of the Smurfs for a minute. Andrew didn’t understand my game. True, he has no idea who they are, but how can anyone resist that catchy tune? La la la-la la laaaa.. You get it. ;) I had them singing it in no time!

“You’re so weird.”

It seemed that my husband lacked some serious Smurf appreciation, too. And he was calling me weird? Geesh.

CIMG5827.jpg

CIMG5828.jpg

The boys and I happily explored the area outside the building, always keeping watch for Gargamel. It was our lucky day and he never did interrupt our fun. Something far worse was waiting to terrify me..

CIMG5831.jpg

A frog!

My fear of ladybugs is second only to my fear of frogs. I’m so not kidding on either of these. He looks ready to jump, doesn’t he? Frogs have an odd attraction to me. I’ve had more than a couple suddenly jump at/on me. It’s not pleasant.

CIMG5834.jpg

The elephant = super awesome. Andrew LOVED it.

CIMG5841.jpg

Inside the gift shop, we couldn’t resist checking out all the fishies.

CIMG5845.jpg

CIMG5846.jpg

It’s a “person-fish” in case you didn’t know. ;)

The gift shop was pretty neat. There were so many fun effects, and I can’t remember any of them! Is there a talking tree? I can only really remember saying "put that down please" three million times and looking at a keychain.. :confused3

CIMG5848.jpg

Scary..

CIMG5854.jpg

After a bit of exploring, we made our way to check in. This is where things got crazy. The line here was really wild and very disorganized. It was tough to hear and I had a difficult time getting the CM to understand that we had an ADR. We did see that this place must operate like Yak & Yeti, as most in the big group didn’t have one. Confusion finally cleared, we moved forward to look at more fish and wait our turn to be seated.

When someone finally called us in, I saw that we probably should’ve skipped all that gift shop and fish viewing. We were seated at a table with a nice gift shop view, and those same fish tanks on either side. Along one of the tanks was the endless line of waiting guests. It was disappointing, but I saw no need to ask for another table. We’d still have a nice time, right? Not so much. As we had a table just inside, we didn’t see much of anything or really notice the fun effects.

John took the boys to walk around and see the rest of the place, but Blake wasn’t a fan. I guess it was good that we were on the edge of it all. After he announced that it was scary, I convinced myself that our bad table was simply Disney’s way of looking out for us. That’s it, right? They knew Blakers would get worried. ;) I made a mental note to hold off on trying T Rex until he was a little older.

CIMG5857.jpg

CIMG5859.jpg

No food pics, but have a napkin! The food wasn’t anything special.

On a happier note, I did remember to use our AP discount here! I really wanted to like this place. It seemed like such a fun idea and a place the boys would beg to see again. It’s too bad that it didn’t turn out that way, but that’s okay. I’m glad we gave it a try, but we have no plans to return.

After lunch, we were back into Smurf Village to go to the secret AK entrance!

During our lunch, things outside had taken quite a change. It wasn’t any colder, but the breeze had picked up. As Andrew started to put his AP in, the wind took it! He and the CM raced after it, but it eventually got stuck on something. Andrew rescued it. He was so worried about that Goofy pass! I tucked it safely inside the AP/photopass card case in my pocket. We’d managed to make it this long without needing APs reprinted and I wasn’t about to lose them now.

There’s no better way to settle your tummy after a greasy lunch than a ride on Dinosaur, right? Andrew thought so, but I didn’t quite agree with that idea. We did go back to grab some FPs for it before hurrying in to see Finding Nemo. We were entering at the last possible minute, but I wasn’t worried. The crowds weren’t that bad, so we’d still find a decent seat.

Or so I thought. The theater was PACKED! We were directed to the very top, on those small sets of bleachers that I’d never seen used before. After finding a seat, John and I started to debate this one. They were far from comfortable and our view wasn’t the best. Twice we nearly got up to leave, but Nemo won. We all love this show and the music, so any seat was better than skipping it. I have to say, if ever given the option of those seats or skipping it, we’ll skip it next time.

As the show began, we saw this wasn’t going to be all that fun. I didn’t really enjoy it and the boys had trouble seeing, even after we’d decided to hold them both. Lots of families around us instructed their kids to stand up on the seats and I almost considered it myself. As it was noticed, CMs would rush over and ask them to sit down. I’m glad I didn’t join in. Since we’d seen this before, we were okay, but I hope this wasn’t the only experience for those little ones. It isn’t a very good set up back there. :(

Back outside with very numb tushies, it was Dinosaur time! Andrew and I raced over while John entertained Blake in Dinoland.

DSC09869.jpg

Dinosaur was the usual awesomely fun adventure. I so love that ride!

We met John and Blakers just outside to head over to the dino Dumbo ride next. Along the way, I put my hands in my jacket pockets. I had been worried that my camera might fall out while on the ride, and was now checking to be sure I still had it.. for about the tenth time! My pockets were a little more open than I liked, and I knew it was a possibility. Finding that my camera was safe, I made an awful discovery. My other pocket was now empty. Our APs and photopass cards were gone!

I’d been so proud of keeping the same set for half a year and now they were missing. I couldn’t help but feel I’d jinxed myself earlier. We skipped the dino Dumbo to walk back to Dinosaur. Someone must’ve picked them up, right?

John asked a CM inside who asked someone else. He came back and said they had nothing. We should try Guest Services. All lost stuff would be sent up there anyway. I didn’t see how they could make it that far in such a short time, but I wasn’t ready to give up. After retracing every step, we were walking into GS.

A CM called us forward and asked what we needed. I told her our problem, but she didn’t understand. I explained it another way. And she still didn’t understand. We clearly had a language issue here. On the third attempt, she decided that we needed new APs printed. She was half right. I tried again. I really didn’t want to lose my nifty plastic case. Could she please check if it had been turned in by a guest? She still didn’t understand, so we went with the new passes. It was a sad day. No longer could I call to my little Goofy at the turnstiles. He was back to being my Pluto.

We all stood outside for a few minutes as this situation sunk in. It was silly to be this sad over our AP characters, but they’d been such a part of our year. No more picking on John for being Minnie. No more secret pride over being the Mickey of our family. No more crazy giggling from my four year when I asked for Goofy. Worst of all, I had no one to blame but myself. It was fitting that I had Donald on my new pass. I certainly felt as frustrated.

“Maybe I should hold onto those now,” my husband grinned at me.

This wasn’t good. John was not permitted to keep control of our APs beyond his FP duties now and then. After the lost wallet incident of our first AP year, I joked that he couldn’t be trusted not to lose them. Now I had been the one to lose them. He would never let me forget this!

“At least my wallet wasn’t really lost,” he continued, as his smile only got bigger.

“You’re enjoying this way too much.”

“Yes. Yes, I am. But what about your pictures?”

Ugh. I hadn’t thought about that. Before the Jedi decision to buy the photopass cd, those little cards weren’t important to me. I didn’t even claim most of the pictures. Now that I wanted them all, we’d lost our card! This was nuts and I felt even worse. The GS CM hadn’t given us any hint that we could recover them either. It was back to the character landing for take two!

CIMG5867.jpg

CIMG5869.jpg

Somebody left their snack!

The character landing was mostly deserted this time, so we didn’t have to worry about waiting behind other guests. We did have to wait for silly Pooh bear to get back from a honey break though. During that time, we had a nice little chat with a CM. We learned our previous pictures weren’t really lost forever. Hooray! We just needed to stop by the picture pickup place with some info about when and where each photo had been taken. They could easily look them up and get it all added to a new card. We were all thrilled at the news and celebrated by visiting all of our friends again!

CIMG5873.jpg

CIMG5879.jpg

Love these kids! The boys came up with this picture idea. They’re too cute.

CIMG5884.jpg

As we left, I was kinda happy that we had so many issues today. Things happen for a reason, right? The second trip was so much more fun! The characters were full of energy and played with everyone more. The pics were pretty neat, too.

That was about the end of our AK experience this day. We never did make it back to the dino Dumbo, but it was almost five already and Blake was tired. We headed up front to see about saving our pictures. Just as the character landing CM had told us, we were able to have all of our earlier pictures added to the new card. Hooray!

On the way out, we made one final stop and our second big future touring change. My poor orange Winnie the Pooh bag was nearing the end. It had been a great companion during our Disney adventures, but it was showing some serious signs of wear. I knew it was only a matter of time before I needed something new and had actually been looking around at home. The criteria wasn’t tough, but it proved more difficult than expected. It couldn’t be too big or I’d load it with things we didn’t need. John insisted that it not be overly “girly” as he had bag duty often. I wanted something I could simply toss in the wash when we got home each time. It also couldn’t be a bag I’d be terribly upset about ruining. Everything came together perfectly and AK had just what I needed. We'd now be going into our Disney future with new APs AND a new park bag. :thumbsup2

Skipping a tram race today, we all walked back to the car together.

Next Up.. Losing my love for the mouse..

I'm glad you got your pictures back...and I can totally sympathize with being sad about getting new AP characters. That kind of thing would totally bum me out. I get attached to small things like that too. They end up with sentimental value!
I had to get a new library card number when I got married (cause I changed my name and they refused to just update my information and insisted that I had to get a new card). I was so upset about not having MY number. I had had that number memorized since I was 10 years old. To this day, I hate going to the library and using my new card. How stupid is that?

It sounds like your day was pretty fun anyway even with the frustrations!

You lose your love for the mouse!!??? That sounds serious! :sad1:

Okay, first I have to comment on the frog issue! I hate frogs too! Last summer we had a family of frogs move into our pool. I was horrified! I couldn't enjoy myself because all I could think about was one touching me or jumping/crawling on me! Yuck! No sign of them yet this year...hopefully it stays that way!!

Too bad about your Rainforest Cafe experience! I've never tried it, but I'm thinking about giving TRex a try on our honeymoon.

No good about losing your case and APs, but I'm glad you were able to rescue your photos!!

I'm not liking you losing your love for the mouse! I'll be waiting anxiously to find out what happens!!

I am soo glad someone understands! I'd be sad over losing I card I'd had that long, too. :sad1:

Losing my WDW love couldn't be that bad.. I am completely obsessed again already, of course. ;)

Ick!! I'm totally blaming you if I have nightmares tonight! ;) Frogs are scary and sooo gross!!

TRex looks so fun! I bet you'd both love it! Andrew is a dinosaur nut, so I thought it would be perfect for him. It just seems a little too scary for Blake for now. That place looks a little wilder than Rainforest.

You know your children are going to WDW toooo much when they spend the entire 4th of July fireworks show trying to find hidden Mickeys! :rotfl: (We didn't end up going to MK for the fireworks today.) Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

February 8th * day twenty

This day wasn’t really supposed to happen. We had two nights booked at POR for the following week, so a day trip might’ve been a little silly. That is, it would have been if this week wasn’t so super important. It was time to say goodbye to Toontown for good. It was closing down this week.

We made it to the TTC in plenty of time to make it across for the welcome show. You know how Mr Coffee operates though. Instead of immediately heading to the monorail, the boys and I were waiting in the gift shop for my husband to return from a potty break. It was okay. While we were browsing around, I purchased two of the autograph book pens for them. Santa forgot those. ;) Shockingly, I’d remembered to bring their books this time! Along with final turns on the Barnstormer, this day was planned to be their first autograph collecting experience.

While we were hiding from the cold in here, John managed to sneak inside and buy something without us noticing. Valentine’s Day was just around the corner afterall. Some men buy their love jewelry, candy, flowers.. I don’t wear jewelry. I certainly don’t need candy, and cut flowers make me sad. (The dying part) My husband decided to buy a new Mickey key chain this year. I laugh whenever I think of the goofy looks I got when answering the “What did you get..?” questions. The man knows what’s really important to me.

We all hurried up to the monorail, passing by a train full of characters on the way. I knew it would be a close one, and we only managed to make it just in time for the end of the show. I love that opening, but we never seen to get our butts there early enough to see any of it. John took the boys ahead to watch while I went through bag check alone. Even just catching the ending, it made their morning. :thumbsup2

Once inside the park, we were taking it slow and headed to breakfast! I’d managed a last minute Crystal Palace ADR. After meeting with the group twice on the last AK day, the boys were excited to make Pooh and the gang the first autographs in their books.

CIMG5907.jpg

CIMG5908.jpg

CIMG5909.jpg

The park wasn’t terribly packed that morning. We made it to the check in line in no time!

CIMG5913.jpg

We only waited about fifteen minutes, which was awesome. We’d checked in exactly fifteen minutes before our ADR time. You can’t get more perfect than being seated right to the minute. :thumbsup2

CIMG5915.jpg

Our waitress was nice enough, but rushed through her words so much that I never really had a clue what she’d said. It's a good thing these all pretty much work the same. We were able to figure out which way the characters would be coming around and planned our buffet visits. It sounded like we had some time yet. Just in case we hadn’t understood her, we’d split up. While getting the autographs was priority one, the boys wouldn’t have been bothered by missing actually seeing a character. The waiting brother made a very serious promise each time that he would have any characters sign both books.

John took Blake first, with Andrew and I second. When we made it the buffet, there wasn’t a plate to be found! That was different. I assumed someone would be around right away to leave another stack, so it didn’t matter much. Andrew was busy planning what I would fill it with anyway. I was super shocked when another guest walked up and gave me two. She complained of the same issue and noticed us walking up just after. She decided to help us out by grabbing some extras! How awesome was that? As soon as it was in my hand, a CM did fill them back up, of course. ;)

When we started into the line, Andy-Roo pulled on me to whisper something. He called them pixie dust plates now, as I’ve mentioned threads about DIS’ers “spreading the pixie dust” now and then. It took a lot to not bust up laughing as we made our way to get our food. Every time I looked at his plate, I was trying to control a giggle!

CIMG5916.jpg

After we made it back to the table, one of the celebration parades began. The boys had no interest at all. They were hungry! Just a bit longer, our first character stopped by!

CIMG5921-1.jpg

Piglet got to be the very first to sign their books!

Then we waited. And we waited. It was twenty-eight minutes until we saw another character! Pooh signed the boys books and motioned to my Winnie the Pooh shirt, but left quickly.

CIMG5935-1.jpg

Twenty minutes later, we were all finished eating and just waiting. We’d done Crystal Palace a few times by then, and were surprised at how slow the characters were coming around. Before, they’d always seemed to move around in groups.

While we waited for the two remaining friends, Blake entertained himself by checking out the restaurant. He loved the ceiling and flowers and this!

CIMG5956.jpg

Next, he spent an extremely long time proving to me that he could fit the pen in his book. This is a case of pure mommy silliness, I guess. I got video of the whole process and was so proud of my baby for doing this!

CIMG5969.jpg

Finally, it was Tigger time!

Tigger was awesome and might explain why the rotation was so slow. The character interaction was excellent! He played with kids for a few minutes and made a fuss over my Pooh bear shirt. Why wasn’t he on it? He pretended to pout. John saved the day by telling Tigger that he didn’t need to be on my shirt. He was in my heart. Awww.. Tigger acted so silly and happy after those words. He really is my favorite of the 100 Acre Wood gang. He signed the boys’ books and bounced away.

CIMG5972.jpg

I’ve always been an odd believer in saving the best for last. Dessert does come at the end, right? The Crystal Palace was in completely agreement with this idea. Our final character was Blaker’s favorite, Eeyore!

When Eeyore walked up, he first went to Andrew. It made perfect sense. Andy-Roo was in a more accessible location. Despite his love of attention and the spotlight, this was one time that he couldn’t let it happen.

“You’re Blake’s favorite! He sleeps with you every night and loves you so so much!”

Andrew directed Eeyore away to his baby brother, even with a Blaker quote. “So so much” is so so Blake! It was sweet really. Eeyore moved his attention to baby brother and they all had a great time playing peek-a-boo!

CIMG5983.jpg

CIMG5984.jpg

Big brother wasn’t left out of the game!

It was a sweet, fun visit and I was happy that this is how our meal would end.

CIMG5985.jpg

CIMG5987.jpg

We took care of the bill and were soon off to play in the park!

Coming soon.. More frogs?? :scared1::eek::scared1:

Looks like a fun breakfast! I love the game of peek a boo with Eeyore! Too cute! And Andrew is such a good big brother, always looking out for Blake!!

We did the Crystal Palace breakfast on our last morning and we really enjoyed it! I'll be getting there soon my my trip report!

I always love the Crystal Palace!
What I don't love is how sometimes the characters will skip over tables that have only adults. Hey, I need some Eeyore love too! He is my mom's favorite - so she and Blakers would get along well!
So glad they got some good autographs in their books!

I'm glad we decided to skip Rainforest Cafe on our next trip. Last time we tried it, Carter was way too wound up to eat any of his food and this time, I was afraid someone would be scared of it.

Crystal Palace looks like a much better choice. It was so nice of Andrew to send Eeyore over to Blake. Don't you love it when your boys are nice to each other?

Can't wait to read about your breakfast!

So glad they got some good autographs in their books!

They really skip you over? That's awful! :sad2: We didn't do any character meals before kids. I thought we'd be the only ones there without 'em! Wish I'd found DISboards back then.

Rainforest Cafe & T-Rex seem like tough ones to decide for little guys. I didn't expect Blake would get worried in there.

I love when the boys do sweet little things for each other! It's sooo much nicer than stealing the other's toys and running like a mad man down the hallway, which was the case earlier today!

Yup, have been skipped over a couple of times.
At Cape May Cafe, we complained to the manager and he had Donald and Minnie come out and sit with us. It was me and my neice and she was 14 at the time and really tall - but still....my opinion is, we paid a lot for this bacon and eggs for a reason.....But I love the character meals and have had great interactions at Chef Mickeys - one of my favorites! Goofy actually sat next to me, put his head on my shoulder and pretended to fall asleep!

They must be nuts. I can't see anyone wanting to pay so much just to eat from those buffets and watch others meet the characters. Well, maybe the Dumbo racing morning people:rolleyes:, but really..

I'm so glad you've had a great time at Chef Mickey's! Your Goofy story is so cute!
