looking for advice!
here is the situation
we are having a family vacation on disney wonder.
we live in oregon so are flying from pdx to mco with a transfer at dfw

on the way home (mco, dfw, pdx) my parents want to stay in dallas for a week (to help a relative who is having surgery). how do we do that?

can the dfw-pdx leg be delayed a week?
can they just not show up for the last leg and purchase another ticket for going home from dallas?

we leave in 1 1/2 wks, so already have the pdx/mco tickets
want to do this the most economical way

thanks, dee

There would probably be a change fee and the difference in the fare. If the cost isn't too much you would be better to just buy another ticket for the Dallas to Portland segment.

for some reason it cost more to fly to dfw than to mco, even though you have to stop in dfw to get to mco. dumb!, any way that is why i was hoping we could just change the last leg, thought the change fee might be less than the return ticket.
anyone ever do something like this?

check with a travel agent. I know my grandmother used to fly from Hartford to Florida to Arizona, to Chicago and then back to Hartford during the course of a couple months. The agent was always able to find her a senior / multi leg deal.
Good Luck

You don't say what airline, and keep in mind each airline has different policies and charges for changing/cancelling your flight - see your specific airline's website for exact details.

One problem I see right away is that they will be checking in at MCO for the entire trip back to PDX; I would think them not showing up for the second leg of that trip would delay the flight - as far as the airline knows, they SHOULD be on it but won't be. The airline may, despite your claims that they changed their minds, actually look for them.
