HI

We are due on the 12.45 from Gatwick tomorrow, we have just checked in and told that we are going to be delayed until 19.00 at the earliest. I am a little worried as if we take off any time after 20.00 we will be landing in Orlando after 12 midnite local time.

Does anyone know what time the no fly zone is in Orlando, I know in other major cities that no flights can land after midnite. So does this mean if we cant get there by midnite will they move the flight to take off Sunday. :confused3

What airport is it?

I think sandford closes at 11pm. That was one of the reasons we were delayed for TWENTY NINE hours in july!!

its a virgin flight into mco I'm on the mco website now but cant find anything about it but i'm looking for you

I am sure you will get there before the cut off time. It looks like the Vegas flight today which arrives back tomorrow ahs been really late for both legs of the journey :(

Claire ;)

I'm guessing we need to take off by around 8ish to be OK. I've had a look through flights that arrive late in the evening and I can see loads get in just before 12 and there's one that gets in just after 12.30 (not delayed).

The Vegas flight is the reason we are delayed, it didn't leave here until 7pm and that has to come back to gatwick before we get on it to Orlando!! at least they did the decent thing and told us at check-in.

Flight number VS 015
Departure date 29 Dec 2007
Route London (LGW) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 29 Dec 12:45
Estimated departure time 29 Dec 19:00
Scheduled arrival time 29 Dec 17:10
Estimated arrival time 29 Dec 23:25

This is the flight status at the moment

I am really sorry to hear your delayed. What a pain. We were delayed both times with Virgin. I think it was something like 2 hours and ten mins before we took off. Apparently this was because of the Vegas flight. These delays are ridiculous now. Surely they should get a plane in to sort out this mess. A part of me thinks with these upcoming strikes they dont particularly anymore. The service has certianly gone down in my opinion. 7 hour delay is unacceptable. I can understand if it was a charter flight, but this is Virgin who has planes sitting on Gatwick tarmac for goodness sake. C'mon Virgin sort this mess out!.

Hope you have a good time.

Thanks everyone it seems that some people have landed as late as 2am into MCO so hopefully we should be ok.

Seeing as we are delayed for over 7 hours any idea of what we will get by way of food from virgin, states on the site they will provide food and drink vouchers. Just wondered if anyone knows how much you get and where you can use it.

have landed in mco around 1.30am in past and it was open.ME buses were still running.think they runn till last plane comes in then 1 hour plus

Article 15 is what you need to quote, although virgin have been OK with us in the past wrt delays.

see here for more info http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=306&pagetype=90&pageid=4404

and the virgin site saying much the same thing but in a long winded manner

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/bookflightsandmore/conditionsofcarriage/carriage9.jsp

Basically not a lot for seven hours, meals and refreshments, 2 telephone calls or your money back. Any vouchers (per person) can be used within the airport for food & drink, usually no change given so use them wisely.

Good luck

I also read this on the site but it doesn't actually say how much you get, anyone know?? we are going to stay in the hotel until 3ish and then plan on having a meal in the airport, so anyone know if we can use the voucher at Frankie and bennys??

Is the other Virgin flight full and if not, can't they move you?

We were told the earlier flight was full, I did check on-line to see if they were selling seats and none came up

Thanks

VS027 has been full for quite some time now :(

Hope you get there safely :)

I get the feeling some of the delays may be due to fewer aircraft as the refit is going on, just a thought being as winter is a slower time they may be in the middle of it now.

We had a delay earlier in the year coming back from Orlando, got $8 each. I would expect about £5 going out from UK. We could spend them anywhere. Cant remember how long our delay was, you might get a little more for 7 hours.

Go back to the check in desk and they will give you meal vouchers usually for the value of $15 each, this is what we did in November.

In August 2006, my Virgin flight of 11.15am, took off just after 7.30pm, and we arrived in Orlando after midnight, I arrived at the Royal Pacific resort at just gone 1am Sunday, the Virgin 12.30pm flight left just after us, however we gained more during the flight, our captain informed us before arrival and they arrived far later than Midnight, not sure exact time.

My flight was timed to leave at 3am for the return trip.

I flippin knew I jinxed myself the other day when I was moaning about delays on Virgin!

Oh well only another 6hours to go...:scared1: I feel sorry for the people turning up at the airport this morning not knowing and having to wait all day, at least we still got our hotel room.

Dont know if this will help, but in the summer when my flight was delayed 6 hours, Virgin gave us a £10 voucher each to use on food in the departure lounge.

We're still here and due to take off at 7.45. Just to let you know if anyone is interested for future reference we had 15 pounds each from Virgin.

Roll on 7.45pm :rotfl2:

If you're still surfing, I've just checked Orlando International and they are expecting you in at 23:59. Temperature will be 21C.
