I am thinking of relocating to Delawar after my husband's retirement by the end of the year or early next year. The tax advantages are a number 1 reason. Can anyone familiar with the state me narrow down an area to concentrate on? I would like to be close to the water (ocean), not necessarily on it but within a few miles. I have a son in middle school so I need a good school system.

Thanks!

You're gonna wanna look around South Sussex county. Try Lewes, Oak Orchard, Oceanview, Selbyville, Millville, Slaughter Beach. Good area to start there. Not sure about the schools though.

Hey there, I live in Sussex County in the Milton/Lewes area. You are dead on about the taxes here - very low ! My daughter is in middle school in the Cape Henlopen School District. The elementary/middle schools are quite good, in my opinion the high school leaves something to be desired but we are getting a new superintendent for the coming school year and this person has a great reputation. Hopefully, he can turn things around there. You can PM me if you have any questions. I'm happy to help you any way I can !

We live in Sussex County DE. as well. We are in Bridgeville, which is about 30 minutes to the ocean. As a PP stated, the Lewes area is very nice, and Cape Henlopen school district is quite good. I'm happy with our school district as well, but you may want to be closer to the beach.
Property taxes are way low, and no state sales tax either. Good luck, and feel free to PM me if you need any more info.
