Del Sol??

playa del sol is a beach in Cozumel. It is really nice. There is food, a bar, pool, water activities. Really nice people there to wait on you. A friendly place. You can do the excursion through DCL or on your own. We did it through DCL because I am scared to book on my own! :) Costs a little more, but I have peace of mind.

It is also the name of a franchise that you see mostly in the tropics and beach type resorts state side. The franchise has numerous items (t shirts, scarves, jewelry, fingernail polish etc) that are black and white that change color in the sun. My wife and I bought our daughter a mermaid t-shirt that she absolutely adores in St. Thomas last year. The have a web site www.delsol.com

If this isn’t what you are asking about sorry!

Are you talking about del Sol the store or the beach? The OP told you about the beach. The other del Sol is a store in th Nassau that has color changing clothes, sunglasses, rings, nail polish, etc. that is plain and then when you are in the sun the color comes out.

If you're talking about the store, there's one on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ.

Is the one in Nassau close enough to walk to from the ship? Can someone describe describe how to get to it? My DDs would love to get some of the items they sell.
Thanks,
DJ

It is about a block away from the main pier area, I can't remember the name of the street that the pier is on but I remember you go one block up into town and it was about two or three blocks on your right. I'm sure the shopping tips onboard will have borchures and maps. Both the store in Nassau and in St. Thomas were very easy to find.

Thanks! The one in St. Thomas you couldn't just walk to from the pier. We did find some of these T-shirts and nail polish that change colors in shops close to the pier, but not the Del Sol store. Sounds like we will be able to walk to this one. I didn't even realize there was a store in Nassau!

No, the St. Thomas store is away in what I call the shopping vortex of he** :teeth: (remember, I'm a guy). We bought something there and couldn't decide whether to get the nail polish that changes for our girls. We didn't and of course my wife had second thoughts :rolleyes1 . She got real excited when she found out there would be one in Nassau as well. We did the Dolphin excursion. When we got back we had like less the 45 minutes to be back on board. We ran like crazy to the store :bitelip: bought the polish and got back to the ship with 10 mintes to spare :cheer2: . It was a fun run, wife got a bit nervous but we made it. She really wanted something special for the girls. They love it, I'm a big fan of Del Sol, a bigger one of my wife!

There are actually two locations in Nassau, both on the same street.

When you get off the ship and into the main shopping area turn right, going towards the straw market. Go past the first Del Sol location and keep going to the second one. It's on the same side of the street and everything. It is much bigger and not as crowded because everyone is at the first one.

We love this store and the people are sooooo helpful. They were out of a necklace that my DD wanted so the salesman went down to the other location to get one for her. I found the people of Nassau very friendly and not pushy. A polite "No, thank you." and a smile and they left us alone. ;)

The one in Nassau isn't that far of a walk. There are actually 2 del Sol stores in Nassau. We only went in one. It's on the main shopping street..you can't miss it because people will be luring you to come in. When we got off the ship and went through that building that everyone goes through (think you have to) we went to the right and ate at Senor Frogs. The we came out of Senor Frogs (next to the straw market) and made a right up the street (looks like an alley) one block and then turned left and were on the main shopping street. It was about a block down on the left. There was about 4-5 blocks of stores. Maybe more. If you like mexican food and a fun, lively atmosphere you should try Senor Frogs..it's REALLY, REALLY good. The tacos are the best. HTH
