defriending family on facebook?

When you are about to post something, click the lock icon next to post. Select "hide this from" and select your MIL. Also select "make this the default". Now every time you post something your MIL won't see it, but otherwise everything will appear normal to her.

has anybody here had to do this? My MIL almost always has something swarmy to say about some of my posts. I am seriously thinking about defriending her. Of course then she will call me up and ask why and I ll be in the doghouse for awhile...

Yes, I did it to my 2 of my sisters, my Mom, and a cousin, and I have not regretted it yet:rotfl:. If she has to ask why, then she already knows why and just want to get ammo to use later. No one says you have to answer when she calls, that should send the message loud and clear:rolleyes1

Can you "Defriend" some one in real life. I've got a few family members I'd like to do this too. LOL

I had to do this with my sister. I just blocked her and the rest of her family from seeing my posts. She wasn't happy about it, but my mom just said that I had decided to stay off of FB for awhile.

I only just recently took the block off.

So glad I'm not the only one who doesn't let me sister see some stuff posted

I put my MIL in a privacy group called "NO NO" I made for her and a few others. They can't see my posts, they can't comment on anything etc...

It was necessary after she would start posting random comments on every status update or photo I posted. Things that weren't even on topic! And also religious things. If you know I'm not religious, so please don't post religious things on my facebook page.

Arrgg... anyways... she hasn't mentioned anything about it yet. We're going for a visit this weekend.

Facebook is pretty toxic to relationships. This is exactly why no one in my family is on Facebook. Anyone I want to talk to-I see in person, call or write.

I have quite a few people blocked from seeing my status updates and most pictures. I look at FB as my own little playground and if you're gonna snark on what I'm saying, then you're not going to be allowed to see what I'm saying.

I've only ever gotten in trouble with one family member over something I've said anyway. I told my handsome biological nephew that he must have gotten his looks from his mother's side. Oops. I thought my bio brother would take it in good fun, but no, I really stuck my foot in it.

I defriended all of my cousins. We all own property together (big mistake, but it was an inheritance), and when my DH was laid off, we had trouble coming up with our share of the taxes. I had to pay in installments. One of my cousins threw several of my status updates (one of them said I was shopping...but it was for FOOD. He assumed it was for things more frivlious) in my face and basically told me I was lying about my DH being laid off. I don't need that kind of crap...family doesn't do that to each other. So, I got rid of all of them. :thumbsup2 If only it was that easy in real life....

I've had to defriend some because of constant political posts. It is rude and I don't want their views always on my page. Delete is a nice button. :lovestruc

I have blocked everyone in my DH's family from seeing my wall. They can see photos only, and I am glad I have it set up this way. I was having issues with MIL and other family members writing some weird stuff on my wall. I am not close with them and I didn't like them knowing everything I wrote on there. I keep my FB very private and only allow certain people access.
