If possible, could someone give a brief explanation of "walking" a reservation? I see a 28 page thread discussing this, but would like to avoid going through all of those pages to see if it's there.

Brief description is booking a reservation prior to the dates that you actually want and then adding and dropping dates until you get to the desired dates.

The search function works pretty good. I won't give step-by-step instructions because I feel that the more it is posted, the more this gets abused.

Suffice it to say that walking involves booking a villa long before when you intend to stay and then walking it forward by dropping days at the beginning and adding them to the end of the reservation.

If you want something more detailed then do a search and read the threads. The info is out there for those who do the work.

Can understand why it's a hot topic. Definitely seems like a lot of work that could cause more trouble for others. Fortunately, I've never had the need, nor believe I've been affected by this.

It really isn't that much work, especially now that reservations can be modified online. It can also be useful when trying to book hard to get reservations such as F&W, Christmas, NYE, etc. It's definitely a hot topic. I personally have no issue with it.
