Could it be that Disney thought that using a character like Deevy would appeal to people that want to stay in upscale accomodations? They should use a character with some charm and sophistication. What on earth are they thinking?

I sent MS an e-mail after the last Deevy Mailing because I do not think this character is funny or an effective ambassador for DVC. Well, today, Sheila acknowledged the note to me via phone, and today another advernture of Deevy comes out. Same ole, same ole, but truly, I hope marketing gets wise.

Cheap, tacky, classless and annoying. I thought it was really strange that they introduced that character to sell what was supposed to be DVC's most upscale resort to date, BLT. She's like something you'd see on late-night TV advertising some really cheesy, low-rent resort.

When we didn't see Deevy again after the BLT introduction, I figured they'd realized their mistake and mothballed the character. But no.....with the vast stable of characters they have to choose a "DVC ambassador" from, why on earth would they create something that awful?

Deevy has been around a long time. I remember going to something at Pleasure Island, maybe for a summer party, and she was hostess.

This character seems slightly more classless than "Smiling Bob" the Enzyte "male performance enhancer" guy, but not nearly as funny.
Considering the demographic that buys DVC, perhaps "Bob" is a little more relevant as well.

I think she is a talented actor but agree with everyone else that it is a tasteless promotion. Puts all of us in a bad light as far as I'm concerned.

People on the resort forums were making fun of the BLT Deevy show. If DVC wants to attract more buyers, they might consider not making us look like buffoons.

She does not give me the feeling that DVD thinks a whole lot of the clients they sell to! I just delete instantly and the only thing I've watched that had her was the supposed GCV grand opening webcast. Since that had nothing of the grand opening I really wish I could say I still hadn't watched her.

How many characters does Disney have licensed? And they come up with this?!?!?! I'd be WAAAY to embarrassed to let any person I know see her.

Deevy is an insult to my intelligence. I am not humorless and I love the fantasy and even silliness of Disney characters, but this character is stupid. The fact that she is a WOMAN makes me all the more offended. Too bad that DVC marketing is so out-of-touch and clueless. Why would anyone want to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a property promoted by this drivel?

I first saw her in the disappointing Grand Cal opening day webcast.

I just noticed yesterday that on the 9th I was sent a survey about the webcast; that was the day we were packing for our GCH stay starting on the 10th, and I never saw it.

I was excited to fill out the survey and let them know how ridiculous I found the character and how utterly disappointing I found the webcast, but they'd already closed the survey.

I purposely filled out the survey just so that I COULD say something to them about how awful the character is... and the fact that the supposed "Grand Opening Celebration" actually showed NOTHING of the actual Grand Opening... but there really was no option to do so. Most of the online surveys that I've done previously for Disney have all had a place for comments outside of their pre-selected fill in the blank stuff...but not this one. What felt like the natural place for "Additional Comments" - was actually the very end of the survey when it closed and thanked me for my participation. Then poof, redirected to some other website. Perhaps they KNEW that they would only get negative feedback about her.

I would say she is the "nice" version of how many CMs view DVCers, judging from some of the member meltdowns I've seen at the resort front desks over the years.

I agree it is an insult on every ones intelligence and a poor effort, I would rather move in with Kate Gosselin (which is one of the worst things that someone could do to me) than have to view another one of those lame videos.

dont make sense.... they keep taking away our perks, but they keep coming out with new lame videos of deevy. I am sort of embarrassed when we go to welcome home wednesdays and she is there. Especially when she says she's from wisconsin. I do not raise my hand when she asks if anyone is from wisconsin!! LOL

After watching the first video that was sent out, I didn't even open this one. I was very surprised. Not something that interests me and I watch just about everything Disney!!! Over and over again at that! Disappointing, Disney.
