Well, I have committed myself to loose about 50 more LBS. Here is my story. I've lost weight in the past with weight watchers, nutrisystem and Jenny Craig. The weight always came back, and for me, these plans were hard. I guess the key is to find what works for you and go with it.

I discovered Atkins In Feb 2002. I dropped 60LBs quickley, without going hungry. And then I got pregnant. What a shocker! My Doctor told me Atkins was not a good plan and gave me diet that consisted of 8-10 breads a day. I gained a good deal of weight while pregnant.
After the baby was born in January 2003, I was maybe 238. I tried to start low carb several times but never stuck to it. I would only last for 5 days then go off on the weekend. I did manage to get down to 215. Three weeks ago, I started Atkins again. I finally felt motivated to lose weight again. I'm down to 202, but the scale hasn't moved in a week. (I started eating Atkins chocolate and morning start bars along with low card tortilla wraps)

My plan is to start strict Atkins tommorrow. I want to try to be at 185 for my vacation to Disney 6/18. I'm going to post my menus, and any problems I'm having, hopefully daily. I'd love to hear any comments you may have.

Dee, welcome to the WISH Journal board!

I'm doing low-carb, although I'm not as strict as Atkins. I've learned 2 big lessons.

1. Take your measurements. It's a proven fact that when you eat low-carb, you will lose inches OR weight but rarely both at the same time. If the scale is moving then your measurements will stay about the same and when you are losing inches, the scale won't budge! Find a tape measure and when the scale gets stuck, you can prove to yourself that you're losing inches - it'll help you stay motivated!

2. The more processed food I eat, the slower I lose! If I eat meat and veggies in their purest form, I do great. If I start having protein bars, LC baked goods like tortillas, anything with flour, my weight loss slows or stops. Maybe you'll have better luck but it can't hurt to stick to real meat and veggies - lots more vitamins & minerals!

Best wishes for success, Dee! :sunny:

Thanks Doreen,

I'm starting back to the strict Atkins. I just feel like I'm stalling. I'm even thinking of giving up diet soda. It seams like I drink more water when I stop soda. This next few days are going to be tough for me. Thanks for your support.

Dee

I started the 1st day of strict Atkins induction. I had to get away from the processed stuff and jump start my diet. So today at 203LBs I started. Lets see what the strict Atkins does for my weight loss in one weeks time. Since I've been on Atkins for 3 weeks already, I should be past the big weight loss of excess water that happens in the first week.

I started this morniing with bacon and water.

For Lunch will be Shrimp cocktail with steeles 0 card sweet ketchup-this is good as a dip for shrimp, has 0 carbs & 0 sugar alcohol. I will only have a little Ketchup

dinner Roast Pork and a cucumber salad (vinegar & oil)

Snacks string cheese
I will drink water throughout the day.
Today I will not drink any diet soda, only water.

Lets see what happens in a week.

Dee

I made it through day 1. It was a little tough because I have Atkins candy and Morning start bars, along with the low carb wraps, all at home.
The roast pork I made yesterday in the crock pot wasn't great, it was just ok. I ate very little.

Here is todays menu

breakfast: string cheese
Snack: String Cheese
Lunch: 3 cups of lettuce with vinegar & oil
Dinner: hot Italian sausage & cucumber salad
Snack: pickles and cheese squares

I'll drink water throughout the day, still no diet soda or flavored drinks.
I didn't get on the scale today, yesterday I was 203. I'll weigh myself maybe in two more days.

I am thinking of the following menu for the weekend. Weekends are always tough.

Saturday
I am going to try and make a recipe for an egg, sausage & cheese bake that I found on this site. That should take care of breakfast.
Lunch Saturday: Lettuce with vinegar & oil
Dinner: baked chicken with mushrooms, bacon and melted cheese. This is quite yummy

Sunday:
Breakfast, more of the egg bakes from Saturday
Lunch:Chicken salad, To cut carbs, I'll use onion powder instead of onion, I'll also use cerlery, mayo and vinegar.
Dinner: leftover baked chicken from Saturday, also a luttuce & cucumber salad with vinegar & oil.

Dee

Dee, it sounds like you're on the right track! Are you sure your lunch will tide you over, though? Without any protein I'm afraid you might get hungry. You'd better keep an allowed protein snack handy just in case.

You'll be in Onederland soon!! Hang in there!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I hope my lunch holds me over. I did bring extra cheese string snacks. I tend to do much of my snacking between six and 9 at night. We have movies for tonight, so while everyone is eating buttered popcorn, I'll be snacking on pickles and cheese. I even spotted some zero carb ham at the Acme, so I might pick that up too. I could always have a little ham for my lunches if the salads don't cut it.
Whenever I get a urge to eat something, I drink water. It seems to help make me feel full.

OkAY,
Day 3 Saturday,
I stuck to my meal plan. I did add a sugar free jello. I overcame my family snacking on Dunkin Donuts, and Mcdonalds. It felt great not to cheat. I also stayed away from diet Soda.

Day4 Sunday

I had my Sausage Cheese and egg mixture for Breakfast. I feel good. I will update on Monday with all the details.
Today is Sunday, the day when my family eats a pasta dish. So I think I'll go for a long walk.

Dee

Okay, It's Monday morning. I started induction 4 days ago at 203. I weighed myself this morning, and I'm down to 199. That's 4LBS in 4 days.

Yesterday was easier that I thought it would be.

Breakfast: sausage egg & cheese

Lunch Chicken salad-no onions, only celery, mayo & vinegar

Dinner, chicken breast dipped in egg and parm cheese, then fried in olive oil...this was soo good!
I cup of green beans

snack jello

Here is todays menu:

Beakfast: hot italian sausage 2 x 3 inch peices
Lunch: chicken salad
Dinner: same as yesterday, chicken and green beans

Snack jello

The hardest thing was not drinking diet soda. But I am determind to lay off that for a little while.

I did walk a little yesterday. Only about a quarter mile. It was hot out, and I got tired. I have to get used to walking in the heat with that Disney trip coming around quickly in June.

Dee

Today is day 5, Tuesday.

I did good yesterday. I was a little tempted to snack in the evening, but I didn't. I'm going to try and have ready to eat snacks in the fridge so that I don't slip in a moment of weekness.

Todays menu

Sausage for breakfast

Chicken salad for lunch

baked chicken for dinner with a cucumber and lettuce salad.

Jello snack
String cheese for snack.

I'm also planning on making ahead some low carb dishes for my lunches for a few days. Maybe a stirfry dish. Suggestions are welcome.

Well, I did stay on plan yesterday. But there was a little bump in the road. When I got home from work. The portion of chicken that I had set aside for my dinner was gone, along with my cheese & lettuce, even the cerely was gone. My husband ate it all. This man does not have a weight problem, and I aways have the food that he likes available for him. Even worse, he then asked me what I was going to make him for dinner!(He made himself a hamburger when he realized that he was in the dog house) So I was quite stressed when I got home.

I did run out to the store and restocked on my foods.
I did stay on plan yesterday, not eating dinner until almost 8PM.
For dinner I had parm chicken, I made allot of this so that I can eat for a couple of days.

Here is todays plan:

Breakfast 3 slices canadien bacon wth cheese

Lunch Parm chicken with string cheese

Dinner parm chicken with string beans

I weighed myself this morning. After 1 week of Atkins induction. I am 197. That is down from 203, so I lost 6LBS.
I'm so happy!!!
Now today is week two of induction and here is my meal plan:

Breakfast 2 scrambled eggs with cheese.

Lunch 3 Chicken tenders, with parm cheese as the coating
& jello

Dinner Philly style cheese steak

Snack either 1&1/2 cups green beans 6 grams or lettuce.

:Pinkbounc :bounce: Good for you on your 6 lbs gone!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

:badpc: That's what I would have wanted to do to my husband's head if he ate my "special" food and left me with nothing! Good thing you :love2: love him!

Congrats on the loss. That is awesome. Go get yourself a clippie!

Well, I had a tough time last night. I really was craving sweets. I ate cheese instead. Then the cravings went away. I managed to stay on induction. I think my latest stresses are making me crave junk.
This is my latest stress issue
I had ear pains, that I was worried about flying with.
I've been sick on and off since early april with what appeared to be a sore throat/ear infection. When I called the Doctor, he was booked and called in a prescription. 2 days after Fininshing the meds, my ear ache comes back. This time I have a bad pain on the side of my neck with it. So I waited about a week for it to clear up, but it didn't so I called the Doc, and this time I was able to go in. The Doctor said whatever infection I had moved into my lymph node, and there isn't anything wrong with my ear. The lymph node is causing all the problems. He said if it doesn't clear up with the antiboitics, I have to go back for blood work. The Doc put me on massive amounts of Augmentin (2000 MG x2 day) and I broke out with hives all over my belly. Of course I had to go in for the cute young skinny Doc to examined my big fat belly. Well, this imbarrasment helped keep me from cheating. I realize that stress makes me crave sweets. (Oh, one more stressful thing. I read the warning for the 1000MG Augmentin that these pills lessen the effects of birth control pills.)

Todays meals are:

breakfast Cheese

Lunch Cad bacon 3 slices, Cucumber salad

Dinner: Philly cheesesteak 1&1/2 servings green beens.

I'll update on my weekend plans later

Dee

Surviving Mothers Day without cheating will be a challange.
I plan to do a lot of cooking on Saturday to have food ready for the weekend. I was going to go to my Mothers for Mom's Day dinner, but that is a diet buster. Here is my new plan.

I'll take my Mom out to Breakfast. I'll order an omlet with a side of bacon instead of potatos.

Then, I leave my kids with my Mother with movies and snacks, she loves it when I leave them there, and she is planning to cook a big meal. Since I'm still sick, I'm sure she will let me off the hook. I can go home and relax with my Atkins food.

Dee

Well the weekend was harder than I thought. I did good on Saturday but, I was an overeating mess on Sunday. It's also that time of month so the cravings are a little intense.

Well I was hungry when I got up on Mothers Day (6:30 Am), and I had a Philly Hoagie in the fridge, so I took the 1/2 lunchmeat, lettuce, onion & tomato slices and ate them without the roll.
Then my Mom sent over a tray of freshly baked Chocolate chip cookies. I almost broke down and ate one, but instead had 2 morningstart bars. I actuly was raising a cookie to my mouth, and said no at the last minute.(I did this 3 times)
Around 10:30 we went out to breakfast, I had a western omlette, (eggs with ham, green pepper & onion) & a side of bacon. Also had coffe with hal&half
Around 3, I was starving, so I ate that other half of Hoagie, without the roll.
I also had a diet soda.

About six, we had dinner, I had 3 chicken strips with parm cheese while the family had speggetti & chicken parm with garlic bread.

I got hungry again at night and ate 2 morning start bars, the second bar was really to keep me away from the cookies.

When I got on the scale this morning, I was shocked that I didn't gain any weight. I'm still 197.

Dee

Today is the Monday after Mother's Day and here is my planned Menu:

Breakfast: 2 parm crusted Chicken Strips

Lunch: 3 parm Crusted chicken strips

Dinner: Chicken salad and cucumber salad

Snack cheese

Will drink water throughout the day. I drank diet soda over the weekend, but today I plan to cut out the soda and all low carb treats.

I have 6 weeks to make my mini goal of 185, that would be 17 LBS in 6 weeks. I've really got to pick up the excercise. So today, I'll get on the workout machine of my husband's and do 50 rows.
(It's looks like a combo bike/rower. It's like doing sitt
ups)

Dee

Dee~
Congratulations on the weight loss with Atkins! You are doing a great job! Have a great Monday!

Tracy:wave2:

P.S. Sending some healing :wizard: to you. Hope you feel better soon!::yes::

Okay, I followed the menu plan until last night. Then I lost it. I went after the morning start bars again. I ate a total of 3 bars throughout the night. I also drank a diet soda. I'm really mad at myself for doing this, why couldn't I just eat one?
I had planned to do 50 of these sit-up things on our exercise machine, but could only manage 12. But today is a new day.

Here is the plan:

Breakfast: 2 pieces hot Italian sausage

Snack 1 hot sausage

Lunch: 2 chicken strips, cheese

Snack: 1 piece hot Italian sausage

Dinner: Spareribs, cucumber & lettuce

I'm trying to increase my protien during the day, because I'm getting out of control at night. I'll let you know if it works.

I got up early and excercised. I did 50 of the machine situps. I really don't feel it in my stomach doing the situps on this machine. I feel it more in my arms and legs. I need to excercise my stomach more than my arms and legs, but I'll do this the rest of the week to give it a chance. I'm also going to add 20 regular sit ups.
