Been looking at the food pics thread and seen a scrummy looking plate of Deep Fried Oreos from Boma.

We weren't planning on eating here as we are both quite fussy eaters at times, but that dessert look to die for!

Does anyone know of anywhere else in the "World" that serves this tempting treat?

I've never seen it anywhere else at WDW. It's not something you can just get either at Boma. It's something special Chef TJ does.

I will say however, if you happen to be near any state fair in the south, you can always find them! Plus fried Snickers and a bunch of other fried stuff! Yum. LOL

I HIGHLY recommend Boma. They have the most amazing dessert... Zebra Domes!

This is our one must do for our trips now.

We have a fish and chip shop near us that does battered jam sandwiches - this might be the closest I can get!

So are they not even really on the menu then?

Zebra domes look good too, it's the entrees I worry about, they look a bit exotic for me!

Much of it is exotic...but there are MANY safe choices. The prime rib, the BBQ ribs (if they have them that night) some of the salads (green salad, pasta salad), some of the sides (the mac and cheese, the saffron rice), and ALL of the "kids buffet" choices (and trust me, you won't be the only adult eating them!) work for less adventurous palettes. I've heard reports from the pickiest of eaters that they were able to leave Boma's stuffed.

The other nice thing about a buffet is...if it looks like you MIGHT like it, but aren't sure...you can take a tiny bit on your plate, and taste it. If you like it, get more...if not....you've got nothing to worry about since you're not stuck with it.

I don't think there are fried oreos anywhere else, BUT...at Cooke's of Dublin in DTD they have "Doh-bars" - deep fried snickers.

:rotfl: Thanks. It's kind of funny actually...I hate creme brulee. I picked this name before I had ever tried it because it looked so good. Then when I actually had some at WGPE, it made me horribly sick :(

1) I didn't mind deep fried Twinkies.
2) I cringed, but accepted the principle of deep fried pickles.
3) But, I draw the line at deep fried Oreos.

4) How dare they do that to Oreos and Milk?
5) Is nothing sacred anymore.

:confused3 What's with the numbers for every line? Makes it kind of hard to follow your thoughts...

Deep fried oreos are awesome! I had them for the first and only time at Boma when we went for my birthday. I have not seen them anywhere since. Far better than deep fried snickers and about the same, really, as deep fried twinkies.

Here's a recipe for them from Emeril. I haven't made them yet, but hopefully some day I will.

Fried Chocolate Sandwich Cookie Recipe

Episode: Fun Fried Foods

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 large egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup milk
Vegetable oil, for frying
20 to 25 cream filled chocolate sandwich cookies (recommended: Oreos)
Confectioners' sugar, for garnish

Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and the milk. Combine the milk mixture with the flour mixture, stirring just until well blended.
In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, add enough oil to come 1/3 of the way up the sides of the pan, or about 1 1/2 inches deep. Heat oil to 360 degrees F. Dip cookies in batter and carefully place in hot oil. Fry until batter is golden, about 2 minutes. Turn cookies and fry for 1 more minute. Remove and place cookies on a paper towel-lined plate. Dust with confectioners' sugar and serve immediately.
